Peugot 207cc 1.6 THP150 GT (2008)

Post by Tiberius »

Hi all. I have a 2008 Peugot 207cc with the 1.6 THP 16V 150 EP6DT engine. I'm getting faults 1336 and 1340 with anti-pollution and eml. When the engine is running there is a very slight jerking as if there is a misfire but it's not a misfire as I've checked the coils and plugs. Also checked the injectors and they are all fine. A few people have suggested it's a failing hpfp including from a guy with PP2000 but even he said it "might" be. I've searched everywhere I can think of online but there is nothing definitave. The coils, plugs, and injectors are new as is the timing chain and all are OEM. Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.

It would be useful to know the mileage of the engine and any major work done on it. I would suggest reading https://www.etuners.gr/peugeot-citroen- ... icing-101/
for a start, but my guess would be that you need to know the condition of your inlet valves and ports if you have covered more than 70,000 km.

These are what those codes mean with regard to this specific engine:

P1336: Combustion misfiring on unspecified cylinders fault: Not characterised
P1340: Misfiring fault on cylinders 4: Not characterised

Note: I've removed your other post about these same fault codes to avoid duplication.

It's got 86k miles on the clock and it's never had any major issues. I know what the fault codes mean but it's definitely not a misfire. There's also a slight smell of petrol which I forgot to mention in my first post.

Well that would also fit the faults reported - over-fuelling if it's mis-firing or not combusting.
Fault Code: P1336
Description of Fault: Combustion misfiring on unspecified cylinders fault: Not characterised. Ignition misfiring (Catalytic converter damage level)

Conditions for Fault Activation:
The following conditions have to be met:
  • - Engine management ECU in main triggering phase
  • Engine speed above 500 rpm and below a threshold defined in the engine ECU
  • Torque less than a threshold defined in the engine ECU
  • The crankshaft and the camshaft are synchronised
Conditions for Fault to clear: Stop the engine and restart, in order to re-inject into the cylinders cut off following the detection of ignition misfirings
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active:
  • Deactivation of the richness regulation
  • Cutting of cylinders if fault persistent
  • Deactivation of checking of the canister purge
Symptoms:
  • Starting problem
  • Unstable idling
  • Lack of power
  • Engine hesitation
  • Emissions outside the norms
  • Excessive fuel consumption
  • Idle speed too high
Suspect Areas:
  • Sparking plugs
  • Fuel injector
  • Electrical harness
  • Engine ECU
  • Ignition coil

Fault Code: P1340
Description of Fault:Combustion misfiring on cylinder 4 fault: Not characterised. Cylinder 4 misfirings (Possibility of damage to the catalytic converter).

  • Cutting of injection on cylinders N° 4
  • Deactivation of checking of the canister purge
Symptoms:
  • Starting problem
  • Unstable idling
  • Lack of power
  • Engine hesitation
  • Emissions outside the norms
  • Excessive fuel consumption
  • Idle speed too high
Suspect Areas:
  • Sparking plugs
  • Fuel injector
  • Electrical harness
  • Engine ECU
  • Ignition coil
