I have just finished a lovely Indian Meal for Two and have cracked open our second bottle of bubbly as SWMBO's cousin, who is younger than our daughter, has given birth to a second daughter. SWMBO's oldest cousin is almost as old as her mum. If you have managed to follow that, then you will realise the problems I have with family reunions!
Where's my shed!!!!!

A good few Toyota D4D's would have done an equally good job.
Can't wait to get shot of ours... :miserable:

I won't bore you with the maths but this is a commercial concrete mould table vibration unit and, over the contact patch, it produces the same compaction force as a "Wacker". The wooden plate doesn't mark the blocks and it compacted sub base and blindings before the sand base dressing. Once wire brushed, it was used to vibrate in the kiln dried sand. And I still have all the bits to put it back to a lawn mower!

The roller doesn't actually get used for anything other than pushing it away when I am finished. Now, time for me to hibernate again.

I knew my list wouldn't stay blank for long, I got up this morning, after SWMBO had left to look after her Friday dementia sufferers, and so came down to an empty house and went to make some breakfast. The "list" hangs on the wall beneath the kitchen clock and I noticed a new entry had appeared- "Leak in bathroom behind toilet" My thoughts went black thinking it was the soil pipe leaking. I went to investigate and found a bowl placed behind the loo under the cistern. Relief flooded through me:
Own work
Own work
Clearly she had placed a bowl to catch the drips which were coming from the cistern to pan joint. I duly turned off the water and emptied the cistern with a flush and a syphon for a closer look:

I spy a previous attempt to cure the problem which actually produced a different problem. I stood back and looked at the waterline on the back of the cistern and sure enough it was not parallel to the top. Aha!! The "filler" had been put in unevenly causing the cistern to tilt which in turn had resulted in a leak on the upside of the tilt!!
Own work

So I set to work removing all the filler and silicone and broken bits of rubber and then decided that the syphon was looking a little bent where the filler had forced it ovoid so I popped down to B&Q and bought a new one which is now installed and hopefully another Job Done and crossed off the list!! :-D

It was the turn of the downstairs loo today. SWMBO had complained that the seat was wobbling and could I sort it out.
My first view:
Own work
Own work
It looked as though we had some corrosion so I unclipped the seat which is done by pressing the two buttons on the inside of the hinges:

I then removed the cover and revealed the loose screw:

I tightened it and the blind cavity nut gave way (sorry forgot to take a picture) so I "beefed" it up with some self amalgamating tape and refitted it and then after cleaning up the hinges I refitted the seat:

However I was not confident that it will last so I contacted the manufacturer, Saniflow, to order some replacement nuts this was their response:

We do not sell the nuts on their own but you can get a replacement seat here:
https://spare-parts.saniflo.co.uk/sanic ... t-c43.html

"What??" thought I £58+ to replace a nut? I think not !!! A little research later yielded:

I ordered them and sent a sarcastic email to Saniflow with the link!!  Job done and a money grabbing manufacturer admonished!! :) :)

A good day's work and time for a Doom Bar!! :-D

My lavvy has a hairline crack on the top rim of the basin where someone dropped something heavy on it before I bought the house, must get it replaced at some time (I've been here 28 years.) :)

I was out in the MX3 yesterday and I had to fill up. I have owned the car for over 2 years now and so I was fully aware of the issue I encountered because I have encountered it every time I've filled up since getting the car and every time I said to myself, "I must sort that out!". Well (pause for fanfare.............) today was the day. Here is the fuel filler:

Nothing wrong with that you may think until I tell you that I took that picture after I had pulled the flap release. Every time I have had to prise the flap open with a coin as the spring on the catch was not strong enough to overcome the friction resistance which has built up in the hinge. Once open it doesn't need Sherlock Holmes to see the problem:
Own work
Own work
It is, and always has been, caked in crap!! :taz: So after just two minutes with my waterless car wash, suitably diluted with water, and a microfibre cloth this was the result:
Own work
Own work
A quick application of machine oil to the hinge itself and now it works a treat !!!

Definitely a "Why didn't I do that after the first time I had trouble with it?" moment!!

Answer "I always forgot after getting home!!" Sorted now and well chuffed, it pops out perfectly as soon as I pull the lever!! :bd: :sun:

The Micra's flap has always looked like your "before" picture too Mick, and still does but not quite at the lever open with a coin stage :-D .

You should be good for another 8 or 9 years yet Neil before the coin operated petrol flap comes into play!! My car is 11 years older than yours don't forget!! :-D
