Re: AUX Citroen c5 RD4 radio 2009
Upgrade your RD4 to RD45....
The RD4 units can only operate Bluetooth with the optional Connecting Box / Nomad / Hands Free unit.
The later RD45 have integrated Bluetooth and Bluetooth Audio streaming.
You can't get a second AUX input - so forget that.
So consider an RD45 Head Unit and compatible Multifunction EMF 'C' Screen.
You will have to disconnect the exisitng hands free unit and possibly wire in the microphone lead direct to the Quadlock connection so it bypasses the hands free kit.

If you get an adapter like the one on ebay, link below, it will allow you to plug both in at the same time but I expect you may suffer conflict issues if you are listening to music and an incoming call arrives. However it is so cheap I think it might be worth a try!!

Pop your VIN up (auto masked) so I can check out the wiring diagram for your vehicle.

Here you go.
Yes you have the EMF 'C' screen, but that 's not always a guarantee it will work - the software ahs to be of a high enough level - but as yours is a 2009 model fingers crossed.
8492 is the Hands Free Kit
8482 is the microphone.
What tends to happen is the microphone wiring from the ceiling disappears into the loom and will come out near the hands free kit and from there to the head unit. Most people give up as it's hard to get to and just wire it in directly at the back of the head unit.
Microphone Wiring:
8487: telephone hands-free input + signal
8488 : Telephone microphone earth input
8462 : audio + hands-free kit
8463 : audio - hands-free kit
As for location, see my post here: with illustrations:

Solder 1 8487: telephone hands-free input + signal 8462 : audio + hands-free kit
Solder 2 8488 : Telephone microphone earth input 8463 : audio - hands-free kit

Re: AUX Citroen c5 RD4 radio 2009
That is the route I took, but as I was also buying the RD45, USB cable and microphone from the same vendor, it was an easy decision to make.amigo wrote: ↑10 May 2021, 19:25 OR

I found that I never used the 3.5mm jack, getting all my music via USB stick or Bluetooth, so disabled the 3.5 input to simplify the mode selection.

The usb port on the rd45 is that an input usb ect or a charge usb, do it give an USB source in the RD45, or do it work both ways?

Re: AUX Citroen c5 RD4 radio 2009
I have a 2Gb memory stick plugged into the USB socket (which I mounted in the glovebox), with some favorite mp3 tracks sorted into folders by album or artist. It will provide charging current, but only at 450mA I think.
