I don't know how we missed Chicory Tip with Son of my Father from the first list!! -- One of the great intros which brought the synth to pop music!' :?: :?: :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Number 8 of 10 Best Intros Mark II Elvis Costello Pump it Up
I could fill the list 10 times over but I'll leave 9 and 10 for others :-D

Here's my 8 toss up between cigarettes and alcohol and pump it up....

Number 10 of 10 Best Intros Mark II Crusaders Street Life
I could fill the list 10 times over but I'll leave 9 and 10 for others :-D Time to wrap it up for the bank holiday now so in the absence of other 9 and 10 suggestions my two are
9 Steely Dan, Pretzel Logic nice driving rhythm and guitar.

and to complete the list.
10 Crusaders Street Life. Sung by Randy Crawford. The singing bit and improvisation as the prelude to the main theme starting I Play the Street Life, just a classic intro in my view.

This is how I remember Deep Purple. In Clearwell where my business was located, my daughter worked at the castle while they were there and got to know them well, they set up a music studio there which was later used by many of the famous groups of the time, ELO, Whitesnake, Dire Straits, Badfinger, etc.

Another intro - perhaps the longest I have heard.

She almost says Xantia - Xenitia with X pronounced Ks.

Acquired taste perhaps?

I went to a concert at The Sage to see Athena Andreadis. Had never heard of her.
Sat on the balcony above and fifteen feet away from her. She started with this and I was in tears, despite not understanding a word.

Steve's post of possibly the longest intro he has heard got me thinking, without doubt the longest I have heard is this one, which you could be forgiven for thinking is just an instrumental. Stick with it if you dare and you will be rewarded after 5 minutes and 11 seconds (or thereabouts :-D ) into it. I have to say though that it wouldn't make any top ten of mine other than the ten longest!! :-D

Scoops the price for longest intro but the title is accurate.

Come all without, come all within,
You'll not see nothing like the Mighty Wyn (the leap)
Just found out from BBC 4 that this song, adapted for the terraces at St James Park was written by Bob Dylan.
