Re: Garages Gallery-Ancient and Modern
It most certainly is, you can zoom in on that and see it quite clearly. I have no idea who or where they are from but I'm sure the Northumberland branch will take up that challenge!!
Sorry Neil you're just too slow, you've had ten minutes and your time is up.
Here is the info on Pace : https://certasenergy.co.uk/my-business/ ... ions/pace/

Half day closing at the Northumberland Branch but I can provide a link in the "too much information" category to 370 images of Pace Filling Stations by Chris Barker who vies with EYbusman for domination of Flickr with images of petrol stations.mickthemaverick wrote: ↑15 Apr 2021, 15:16 I'm sure the Northumberland branch will take up that challenge!!

Re: Garages Gallery-Ancient and Modern
Chris Barker does have 4 pics of Catworth Garage in his album of Pace Service stations, Catworth used to be "UK" Petroleum Brand, but "UK" Fuel Stations are being rebranded as Pace.

I wonder if those tanks were properly decommissioned, degassed.

Re: Garages Gallery-Ancient and Modern
The usual fodder for the thread is pics of old commercial garages...but the domestic garage is no less interesting and photograph worthy. Not many domestic garages will have a car in these days, and maybe the integrated garage with the dwelling has lost some of the magic of the older detached constructions of wood corrugated iron and concrete.
So if you spot any when out and about...this is the place for the snaps.
Discovered oldclassiccar.co.uk's youtube channel, and a quest to discover the 50's domestic garage. I liked one of the comments on the vid

One of the most evocative memories from my childhood and one, nearly 60 years later i remember clearly, is the smell of our old garage. It might sound quite odd to anyone who has not breathed in the aroma of an old wooden garage, warming in the sun. Tar felt shingles on the roof, lead paint peeling on its walls, creosoted on the inside. Shelves filled with ancient oil cans and old terracotta flower pots. And parked inside, a 1940s Armstrong Siddeley. Itself a wonderful mixture of warm oil, petrol, leather, rubber and wood. Glorious.
