Re: Suspension noise
I replaced the ARB bushes today, no change, im giving up i think, new brakes, new wishbones, new ARB bushes, new outer tie rods and yet the noise persists.
On the bright side i got rid of a squeaking noise by adding abit of silicone grease to the ARB bushes that i had when going over bumps

Re: Suspension noise
Just a thought. Did you tighten everything up while she was on jacks/stands? If you did it is possible tat some of the bushes are not in their 'default' position. You might want to loosen off the nuts and bolts so they are finger tight, lower the car back to the normal road position, and then tighten the nuts and bolts back to their correct torque settings.
Years ago, when I replaced the wishbones on my last Xantia, citronut (who was a mechanic and a forum member (he is dead now)) told me to do the various bolts to finger tight only while she was at an abnormal height. If I did them up to the correct torque (with her at a service height position) the bushes would then be out of position when she was at the normal ride height, and would wear out very quickly. However, if the bolts were (slightly) loose then, when the car was at the normal height, the bushes would find their 'natural' position, and when the bolts were then torqued up correctly the bushes would not wear out.

Re: Suspension noise
Yeah i know about that which is why when i installed the wishbones, i jacked the wishbones and then tightened the bolts so they will be compressed abit like whn they are on the ground
Suspension is all tight, no play at all in the wheels aswell, only problem that i see is a leaking front left strut and squeaking abit when turning the steering wheel (when a very hot day only lol)

Re: Suspension noise
There is also alot of rattle when going high gears under load, or at low revs from the engine area. Maybe motor mounts abit worn? Lower one i replaced it because it was broken, the other 2 seem ok to me, i removed them, they are not torn, the left engine mount (timing belt end) is abit loose when i removed it but rubber isnt broken at all

Re: Suspension noise
My Saxo has no droplinks of the traditional sort and the anti-roll bar is directly attached to the wishbones via large rubber bushes.
As Mick say, don't remove or disconnect the anti-roll bar!!!
Another possible cause of the noise may be the strut top bearings. My Saxo received an MoT advisory for them.
I'll soon be replacing them... I have new ones in stock ready...

But they will only make noise when you steer right not over bumps or they can make aswell?
No i wont disconnect the bar, all new bushes now, yes mine is like yours with rubber bushes at the ends

Mainly over bumps given how they develop play...Jonathancilia wrote: ↑29 Apr 2021, 17:47 But they will only make noise when you steer right not over bumps or they can make aswell?

Re: Suspension noise
Mhm, im experiencing some issues with strut as i said, strut has oil leaking, but they are not originals, ive been putting it off for now, since the other one is ok, ill wait for the other one to leak aswell. I did replace the strut mounts when i replaced shocks, that was about 40k kms ago. Early for struts to go i know but in my country roads are crap to drive, all potholes and all sort of stuff so not surprising they took a beating. I Used TRW shocks so not a bad brand.
But bearings i didnt replacr them, i just regreased them and made sure they were ok only
Lol funnily enough my car only squeaking when i steer on hot days only like we are having now, at night doesnt squeak at all

That is because the mice prefer you driving in cooler conditions, and are (on hot days) complaining about the heat!

Re: Suspension noise
Rattle - high gears under load...
Try lifting front wheels off the ground (under wishbone, so at normal geometry), putting in gear, and slowly rotating each wheel by hand, back and forth, to see where the backlash/rattle is.
Also check for backlash in the clutch.
Both of these will be masked by higher revs and/or higher torque in lower gears.

Re: Suspension noise
Vehicle testing stations here all have "wobble plates" either side of an inspection pit.
These show up issues in the suspension by being able to move wheel(s) in controlled directions.
