Delighted to have ran my first Ultra Marathon yesterday at a big running event in Salcey Forest

An Ultra Marathon is defined as a run longer than a standard 26.2 mile marathon but 50K (31.12 miles) is more recognised as a proper Ultra!

The medal is lovely and rather than the usual finishers tee-shirt, the event organisers gave out something far better - a large slice of flapjack and a bottle of artisan apple juice

A bottle of artisan beer was also on offer!

And yes, I can still walk this morning I'm now aiming to do a 100K Ultra... I may be able to do that in July....

50K Now that is some achievement, like rowing across the Atlantic in a proper boat, with proper oars.

I'm now aiming to do a 100K Ultra... I may be able to do that in July....

100K That is just sheer madness like rowing across the Atlantic in a bath tub with one arm tied behind your back

Only joking, and I'm full of admiration for your achievements, and desire to do more ( yes even though I do think the 100K is absolute madness!)

I did a 135km walk from Brighton to Watford to raise money for the BHF after we lost our daughter. It took 2 days and I swore I'd never do anything like that again. To run 100k doesn't even bear thinking about for me so I'm impressed with your plan Jim, however above all I don't want to find out you've over indulged your passion to your detriment so take care

I appreciate fully what you say and I may look to do a 100K Ultra over two days I know from how I feel today - and how I felt after doing 50K yesterday - I can do that within my personal comfort and ability zone...

I'm tempted to do the Race To The Stones ending in Avebury next year... I did plan to do it in 2020 but or reasons we all know...

Thanks ever so Skull And not only can I still walk but this morning I've been for a 12 mile virtual bike ride on Zwift and ran 5K to mark my arrival in John O'Groats during my virtual LEJOG Now to run back to lands' End!

I've now decided on my 100K ultra marathon The Race To The Stones in 2022 beginning in the Chilterns and running 100K along the Ridgeway to Avebury over two days... 50K per day...

I'll be looking for a support crew to take me to the start and pick me up from the finish

I'd do it this year but it clashes with the already booked Mendip Classic Sportive 100 mile bike ride... I love this ride as it's in Somerset and takes in Cheddar Gorge It'll be the third time I've ridden it....

Mick, that'll be magic You may be advised to bring a wheelchair - just in case

Having just seen the website the organisers certainly do seem to do a great job, I'll be happy to get stuck in with whatever you need extra to their support and bring any necessary equipment from wheelchair to trolley jack!! I will be happy to stay around should I be needed during the days. I know having Bob in our motor caravan supporting the walk was a great help when a mars bar was required at short notice!!

Yes, the event is incredibly well organised and supported... It enjoys a great reputation too.. And not least as a big social occasion - my kind of event!

Sally the Saxo enjoyed a good bath yesterday

She was very mucky from worktop cutting dust and general grime as a result of next door's new kitchen activities...

I don't wash my cars very often but I must say she scrubs up well

Even Daffodil, who lives in the garage, was found to be covered in worktop cutting dust My garage doors are sturdy but not very air-tight...

I've not been very active on here for a few days due my brain not really wanting to play Physically I'm in absolutely top-form and been cycling and running more than ever but mentally I'm not quite so good... Hopefully I'll soon be back to normal - or what passes for normal in my world

Despite that I'm feeling great and very happy and content
