Hope it travelled well Mick. If you and Bob had plumped to stay at South Shields the Brewery have a brewery tap at the Maltings in South Shields as well as at The Robin Hood In Jarrow.

This was their first recipe still going strong today

2nd-12 went 90k ish with a death rattle
4th-16 is nicest with 60k ish

The old 'Newport Nobby' Wolverton to Paggers Branch Line... The trackbed is now a cycleway and this signal post is one of the few artefacts of the old line now left... The post is genuine but the semaphore arms are a much later addition for cosmetic purposes only...

Went to start on the Mini One today, three jobs to do before we can move it on, power steering not working, exhaust rotten and a fair amount of lacquer peeled. So I got the power steering pump to rebuild. Luckily we had an old one in stock so I was able to strip both and rebuild one decent pump while my mate got on with the exhaust and bodywork. After rebuilding and refitting we now have working power steering, replacement exhaust rear section on order and a fair amount of bodywork to sort out, however the day's efforts produced these pictures and ended with the final and most important one!!

It's actually a large pry bar used to lever the engine over to allow removal and refitting of the pump. My job was to lean on that while Dave crawled about underneath working on the pump, I'm too old for that malarky these days

Nice idea Neil, I'd love to give that a go but I'd never pass the medical these days. I had to surrender my RAC Competition license for health reasons!!
This Mini is destined either to go to Dave's niece if she likes it, or be sold on for a profit. It just needs the lacquer sorted out and the new exhaust which will be done by the end of next week and we'll either wave it goodbye to family and no profit, in fact a loss which is what usually happens where our young relatives are concerned , or it will go up for sale with a view to a £900 ish profit. Not worthy of a thread of its own I didn't think!!
