A to Z of Cars

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

Points only awarded for the first posted lets say a mean one for each. I will not be managing the thread or imposing rules in any shape or form. Or totting up any scores.

Simple to join in post up a car to represent the 26 Letters of the alphabet. You can monitor your own personal A-Z and put up 26 posts over a number of days, or just join in with any letter you fancy. Doesnt matter if the letter has been taken.

Threadstarters privilege Austin Ambassador....... yes just to emphasise the complete lack of rules I am awarding myself 2 points for that being a "double A"

Join in and amuse yourself. If we end up with 26 posts from me and 0 from anyone else I will officially declare the thread as a failure....Join in if you fancy

The threads is a success already thanks Mick :-D, How about a pic or a vid , an old advert to go with your T :-D
..and again let the rulelessness flourish, you don't have to start at the very beginning either :-D

and I'll award myself another point for a bit of fascinating trivia from the AA video.

Didn't know John Shuttleworth was Jilted John (Gordon is a moron one hit wonder) or that his real name is Graham Fellows.

Number 2 for me, a double pointer for a BB, and a further bonus point for educational trivia.

The Baby Brousse a Citroen offering in Côte d'Ivoire and West Africa
In the Ivory Coast in 1963, a locally assembled 2CV was sold in some west African countries as the Citroën "Baby-Brousse".[80] This idea of building a "simplified" 2CV in developing countries was subsequently tried several times, as detailed under Citroën Facile à Fabriquer (easy to manufacture).

Help yourself Paul its a free bar on this thread. I'd be wanting at least 3 points for that :-D

I may save some up for another day but here's my double C. I was hoping to add the full stable of early 60's ford CC's

Consul Classic, Consul Capri, Consul Cortina but I'll plump for this

Yup. Graham resurrected Jilted John in October 2018 for a 40th anniversary tour. Here's a pic of yours truly with the man himself post gig. He puts a lot more effort into Jilted John than when he's John Shuttleworth (Hmm, both Johns, just realised).

He was supported by John Otway (another John!). Not quite a one-hit wonder. As well as Really Free with Wild Willy Barrett his fans grouped together in 2002 for his 50th birthday to push a second record into the Top 10. As he says, this now ensures that the 'S' will be at the right end of Hit!

John was still touring regularly up until the pandemic and always puts on a great show.

There is a bad weather delay to the golf so a chance to stop being silly and posting up a proper contender for a couple of points:
Proton Perdana for 2 points
Proton Perdana for 2 points
The Proton Perdana and a litlle relevant trivia......Perusahaan Otomobil Nasional ( Proton) was established in May 1983 through a joint-venture between HICOM and Mitsubishi Motors . Proton produced its first car, the Saga in July 1985, and its first indigenously designed car, the Waja in May 2000.

Jaguar did not do any 'J' models (I won't count 'XJ'), so it has to be Jowett with Javelin or Jupiter

Neither would win a beauty contest (in my opinion), but I have always had a soft-spot for them. There was a Javelin parked a few doors down the street when I was growing up, and I don't think it moved in 10 years.

The Dart became the SP250 because Dodge sued Daimler for copyright infringement, as it could have been confused with the Dodge Dart. A mistake anyone could make...

Note the USA spec Jag in the background (it would have been too ironic if it had been a Daimler).
