Citroen c4 grand Picasso leak

Hi I have a leak coming from the right hand side/ passenger side of my engine area it seems to be dripping from somewhere onto the top of my gearbox the liquid is a clear colour but seems to be oily any idea what this could be I’m not loosing any water and my break fluid is still ok can provide pictures the leak is coming from underneath as show by an arrow in my picture

Hi. It looks suspiciously like the engine outlet water tank which is located up from and attached to this hose. Pop up your VIN (auto masked from public view on submission of post) for me so I can determine the engine and cooling system type fitted to this model.

Your vehicle's VIN number is located on your V5 logbook or is on the outside lower corner of the passenger windscreen in a little cut out. It will start with a V and be 17 alphanumeric long. Just pop that up here and I can use this to determine your exact vehicle details.

When you get a chance. can you take a better shot of the wider area so I can see all the other hoses in the same area to help identify the correct hose.

I do seem to be loosing a little water from my water bottle but it’s very slow going down

From what I can see, the lower green arrow is your Air intake and the top most is an Air hose - so none of these carry water.

The Red arrow indicates your brake fluid reservoir - so check this isn't leaking down onto the area you indicated - if it has recently been serviced, it may of been topped up and a bit spilt - given that you said it was a bit oily.

The yellow arrow indicates generally where the water outlet tank / water pump is - so this is where I would focus on as if it is leaking then it could be dripping down onto where you have found it.

How many miles has it done and has the timing belt service been done at any point? Normally the water pump is replaced with the timing belt service. The gasket may be leaking. I assume there is no brown mayonnaise type of gunk in the expansion bottle - as that may indicate head gasket issues?

So it needs investigation - and if the timing belt service does need doing, it would be the ideal time to get the water pump included and for the general condition of the outlet tank and pipes to be checked too.

Hi it’s just hit 40k miles I have checked the water bottle that is clear and the oil is normal never shown any over heating or warning lights and the leak has only started in the last week or so I’m not sure if it is oil or water as it burns off quick from where it’s dripping into the gearbox when engine is warm timing belt hasn’t been done since I have had it when I brought it at 18k miles would be easier if I could take a better picture showing the small drip but the engine is quite crowded lol ty for your help

Also is the timing belt and water pump not on the left hand side of the engine ? Opposite side to the leak
