Sounds like a very wise decision to me !!
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Re: Bargain Basement Motoring
The swap back today involved the BB Micra in its carthorse "can you take these 3 carpets to the tip please" role.NewcastleFalcon wrote: ↑08 Jul 2020, 11:40 There are a number of advantages keeping the Micra road legal, even though its secondary transport now.
One I can use it for the carthorse role...tip visiting, cement/sand/aggregate/timber and various other lugging tasks, shoving the bike in without dismantling anything, or bothering too much about the upholstery.
The Micra doesn't give the impression that three rolls of carpet will easily fit into it, but a bit of creative slicing got them all fitted in. Was quite impressed with the organisation at the tip, and I resisted the temptation to take some of the carpet home because it was in decent enough condition.

The BB Micra got a little run out today, bit of fresh air, just keeping it ticking over as a reserve, ideal for the job.

Re: Bargain Basement Motoring
Not often I call in at a petrol station today, but the Micra needed a bit topping up so in went £15.10p of Esso's E5. Tank just over half full now. Not accustomed to such wild spending on transport. Yes ouch! £1.26 a litre, but that's what is know as the North Northumberland price fixing cartel prices.
Turned out a nice sunny day so the BB MICRA got some fresh air to breathe, apart from the controlled burning of the heather moorland which required the usual waste of time visit for local firecrews.
The joy and freedom of BB motoring

Very bright but very windy and cold today, lovely drive round weather, so just a quick nip out to exercise the hound, and a bit of dull men's club pylon photography.

That's a great picture
That view makes me very jealous Neil, it's been years since I've seen the sea 2016 I think it was...
I intend to rectify that this year

Re: Bargain Basement Motoring
Me too, it's not so much seeing the sea, which I last saw on the September Stroll, but being able to pop out and see it whenever the mood takes you. I guess the reality of living inland is that the sea is generally out of reach, but it does make it that bit more special for us having a trip to 'the seaside' !

My feelings exactly Mick... We have to make it a special occasion and it can never be done on impulse...mickthemaverick wrote: ↑14 Apr 2021, 09:05 Me too, it's not so much seeing the sea, which I last saw on the September Stroll, but being able to pop out and see it whenever the mood takes you. I plan a trip this summer to Blue Anchor, near Minehead - as you know, a special place for me - and take a ride on the West Somerset Railway

Re: Bargain Basement Motoring
I obviously don't know when you are thinking of Jim, but I am hoping to reinstate the South Coast Saunter plans from last year, covid permitting of course, sometime in August/September. It would be great if we could co-ordinate it and meet up for s trip on the Railway.

Re: Bargain Basement Motoring
Being brought up in a seaside town I thought I would miss it. Move to an inland town and never did. Only an hour away from the coast but rarely went there, except for a month each summer spent on an island about half a mile wide and a mile long.
Live ten minutes from the coast now. Haven't seen the sea since last September.
