Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Soon as I was out of the door on the evening dog walk, I had to go back in for the camera. The moon is in its classic banana shape and the sky was a gorgeous evening blue making it stand out in a photograph me scene. Remember I'm on a point and shoot compact camera, and most of my nighttime shots especially of the moon rarely trouble the photographic quality scorers (not that it bothers me in the slightest)

Sorry Neil, I was wondering if your picture was the right way up so I started playing and it got out of hand

If my art inspires creativity in others, and a bit of light entertainment for viewers and participators then that's a win in my book

This might be in the wrong place if so mods please move it
I have been using this letterbox for years, oddly I always thought the E.R. on it was in relation to the Queen. Today I noticed the VII then the penny dropped..

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Just one more follow up I came across. There are a rare number of George V Boxes which carry the insignia of George V and also of the Irish Free State. The tale is told under this picture on Flickr by Stuart. Re: Picture(s) of the day....
An "If Only"
I had a walk over to my son's house to deliver an angle finder, it is through a park.
If only I had taken my camera I would have a nice photo of a huge frog, sat right in the middle of the footpath.
Didn't even take my phone as it was playing music through my stereo and was only going to be fifteen minutes. That never happens of course and it was three hours later and pitch dark and no light or flash in the phone.
I stopped for a moment with one of my son's neighbours, she was mucking about with her car and does her own servicing, I offered the use of my trolley jack then spent a couple of hours chatting with her.
So much for a quick walk to the other side of the village.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Saw a heron on the river yesterday with a frog in its beak.
Never tried it but I imagine its quite difficult to swallow a whole frog.
George V got a mention yesterday in connection with the Post Boxes of Ireland, and today here's a Lion Trough, a commemoration of the Coronation on 22 June 1911. Originally a nice watering spot for horses but now a nice display of spring flowers.
and another sight and sound of the season, the rookery in the Churchyard.
Regards Neil

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
I came across an unusual colour/trim combination today but could only get this rear end picture. I've left the registration number because I wondered if it belongs to an old colleague of mine in 1970, EDdie Pearce at BT!!:
