Hello all, have a question regarding MK I power steering high pressure line.
I need to rebuild the line and have a spare from another car.
Mine has a sensor plumbed into it near the pump, where the other does not.
Can anyone tell me what this sensor does and can it be bypassed or just not connected?
Many thanks.

Re: C5 power steering
The ecu uses it to detect when the steering is on full lock, this puts more load on the engine & the revs naturally drop a little, the ecu uses this to put the revs up a little to stop the engine stalling on full lock, if its not plumbed in you may find the engine has a tendency to stall on full lock.

Mine also seems to raise the front corner of the car for clearance when manoeuvering

Re: C5 power steering
The front rising when on full lock is due to the geometry of the steering/ McPherson struts, not a clever piece of suspension ECU programming.

Re: C5 power steering
Appreciate the feedback, I need to replace the line, I can't see a way to do it with out having to lower sub frame.
Anyone had any luck another way?
Cheers
