Re: On TV...
I have just watched the first episode of the new series of Top Gear. Very nostalgic (for the three presenters), as they got to drive their Dads' cars (well, the closest to the exact model the production team could find). All three presenters were somewhat emotional about the cars (Chris certainly was; he had NEVER sat behind the wheel of that particular model of car before this episode).

Re: On TV...
I am posting this here (rather than in the "Fallen heroes" thread) because almost everybody (who knew of her) will know her through 'Top Gear' and other motoring programs. Sabine Schmitz died yesterday from cancer;

Yes very sad, not only was she a very skilful driver but had a lovely personality - and was nice looking.

Re: On TV...
A great shame indeed. She knew more about the Nurburgring than Jim knows about Citroens!! A very sad loss so quickly after Murray!!

Really sad - an extraordinary driver, and one of the TopGear crew actually worth following.
Too young indeed. Oh, gosh.

Re: On TV...
I would say that the new (well, three seasons so far) team are doing a good job. There is camaraderie there, and a good mix of fun and (semi) seriousness.

Re: On TV...
I don't even know who the current team are. I stopped watching after the second Chris Evans episode and I found a local pub quiz night to go to on a Sunday. Obviously that was a few years ago but the trailers etc. I've seen since just haven't tempted me back!!

Re: On TV...
The three current presenters are Chris Harris, Paddy McGuiness and Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff. The previous 'new team' seasons are being shown on the 'Dave' channel. In one episode where all three were driving 1980s' supercars (Harris in a Ferrari F40, McGuiness in a Lamborghini Diablo (which he lost control in and crashed), and Flintoff in a Jaguar XJ220) Andrew got the XJ220 over 200MPH, and you could see that he was REALLY happy to have managed it.
The current series is on BBC1, Sunday evening, at 20:00.

I stopped watching it long before CE took over - it became a comic event, smashing stuff up for no good reason. Boooring!
