Always thought that the Xedos was a very nice looking car.

I'm with you on that Steve, a really good looking luxury car in my opinion. I absolutely loved it which is why I was prepared to swap my Celica Convertible, which I'd had for 19 years, for it when the Celica's A pillars got past the point of no return regarding tin worm. The Xedos was the only non Citroen car I've owned that truly wafted you along in more comfort than my Jags or even, dare I say it, my C5's. It also went like a true performance car with the Miller engine but that was my reason for parting with it in the end - it had one hell of a thirst when driven with spirit!! :) I've been on the lookout for a Xedos 6 ever since I sold it but none have met my wants so far!! Trouble now is I am becoming too fond of my C5 but if I cannot resolve the display problem it will have to be replaced if and when I find an option that ticks ALL my boxes!! :-D

I would have liked one but they were always well out of my price range.

It was MOT'd the day before I collected it from the same place so I will get my starting mileage off that and post something when I get my laptop going again. It really is too much of a faff trying to create that sort of post from my clockwork tablet :-D

Thanks Mick. Eyes a bit tired from trying to locate Jims Church and the new impossible whatsthisthen? Didn't even notice "Rover" on the steering wheel.

Yup - a Rover SD1. Stylist David Bache was clever with the dash (and under cost pressure, too), which could simply be repositioned for LHD or RHD. Best Jaeger instruments were standard for Rover. Similar thinking for the much smaller Range Rover cluster, with the flat-shelf/rectangular pod concept having appeared first on P6.

Build quality for the car, for most of its life, was pretty abysmal. This was finally sorted for the later cars, which weighed in and were equipped and trimmed closer to the way Bache had originally designed.

If you look at the left hand side of the car you can see (below the shelf) a dark area (where there normally is a blanking plate). This was where the steering column came out on LHD variants.
