Citrtoen center displa problem

Post by Wynand »

Hi all. I have a Citroen C2 VTR 2006 model

I have sorted the BSM and fitted a test unit from another vehicle. The Dual Alternator lamp error seems to be fix, but one problem that persist id the disappearance of the center display info and the freezing of the trip counter.
Town driving all is fine, but with freeway driving about every 50 km the info on the center display disappear as in photo 1. The temperature and clock is working fine bit the km travelled and average speed, that all disappear. If this happens the trip counter
on the main dashboard display freezes and the total km traveled, but speedo and fuel gauge is working fine. I have scanned the car and there is no error codes.

I have checked all wiring, fuses, relays, earth points and sensors, alternator as well and all is working.

Please any help would be appreciated

Looks like you have got some other non PSA equipment fitted under the display....

Has anything been fitted by you as this can affect the onboard systems?

Hi Marc. Yes we do but it runs from the lighter port of the Citroen, and its a NOS control panel. A raspberry Pi system was fitted drawing power from the Radio power wire and ignition supply. A aftermarket Sony double din radio was fitted, with a Connects2 adaptor and all the necessary leads. This was all done 6 years ago with no trouble at all but the symptoms started appearing about 2 months ago. My thoughts is that the Connects2 adaptor is maybe at fault.

Did the issue start after you replaced the engine fuse box? Did you use the correct part number for the vehicle, as there are 2 types depending on the electrical architecture on the C2. They have to be correct for the type of multiplexing used on the vehicle.

Ok, just a thought and that’s the reason I asked. So it looks like you have moved the display screen from its original location; but it will be hard to troubleshoot non-standard setups because of the multiplexed setup. The multifunction screen has an ECU that does a fair bit more than display the settings, it also interacts with the RD4 head unit and the BSI.

So either the MFD has gone toes up or you have a comms issue somewhere that is causing the data to drop out intermittently.

Thanks for all the info Marc. Guess it could be the display acting up, the only way to know is to replace it. Wont a comms problem be picked up with an error code during a scan

Not necessarily and secondly, depends on your diagnostic hardware and software. A Lexia / Diagbox system with VCI clone is as near to dealer level a tool you can get for PSA vehicles. So the chances of talking to all the ECUs is greatly increased with one of these kits.
