Good bye Citroen

Post by crapday69 »

Its a sad day in crapday towers. For the first time in 20 years I wont have a Citroen :? my X7 estate will cost me more than its worth so wont be throwing good money after it. Only last year I spent nearly £2000 on a new timing belt and clutch, plus £200 on a couple of tyres 3 weeks ago. I will miss my Citroen C5 and its EGS box lol but the 17 plate Passat with a DSG gearbox will more than make up for the loss.

Ive loved all my Citroens from the Xantia to the brand new little C3 XTR which I traded in for a 05 plate C5 which I loved. That went back to the finance company and I bought the 07 C4. That was a great car and had it for nearly 6 years till its gearbox packed in and I moved on to the 12 plate C5 estate. I also bought my wife a 2 month old 14 plate DS3 auto as a first car and she loved that too. Shes moved on to a Merc GLA and now a Volvo XC40.

Id like to say thanks to everyone for their help and Richard for sorting out my fluids with his Lexia a few years back. Ill miss you all but I'm sure ill pop in and out and see whats going on in Citroen land.

Best of luck with the Passat, but will just say have a good journey instead of goodbye, as so often happens, many ex-PSA members end up back here in the not too distant future.

Always plenty of interest in the Off-Topic Bit of Forum, even if you don't have day to day Citroen woes to report.
You can regard that as an old favourite pub that's nice to drop in and have a decent pint, shove something on the jukebox or chat about the topics of the day.

Stay in touch. There's plenty of non-PSA items you could contribute to.

There is far more entertainment on the FCF than the TV so don't depart, diversify and join in whatever takes your fancy!! :)

You will miss the ride, that's my main reason for having the C5. Mine are manual and steel sprung deliberately to keep repair costs down, even the non hydropnumatic ones ride better than most other cars.

One of mine has virtually the Exclusive spec, leather, glass roof etc but manual and springs. Very rare it would seem.

Goodbye, crapday69 , hopefully your purchase will give you miles & miles of satisfied and economical driving, however, it will be different so give yourself time to adjust. And if you ever decided to pop in for a quick visit I am sure you will be welcome.
One tip, the VW/Audi DSG box is very smooth compared to the PAS box, but is stil prone to simular faults caused by "over exurberant" owners, so I would suggest you drive it hard for a while, and try to find a clutch/gearbox fault, then get the warranty company to pick up the bill for flywheel & clutch.
You have to remember most cars are sold because there is some think wrong with them.
