Lexia issues, anyone?

Post by white exec »

Has anyone recently had any problems getting Lexia to connect and run a diagnostic on their car?
A slight suspicion that if allowed to connect to the internet (i.e to PSA), some functioning could be put on hold, maybe for commercial reasons.
I had thought that advice was not to allow web connection or updates, on ex-workshop platforms...?

If you try to access some functions where it tries to connect to a PSA server (not always deliberately requested by the user), and even if cancelled, it can and frequently will deactivate the software. Restoring your licence file usually restores functionality Chris, hence another reason to back it up after successful installation.

The WiFi adapter on the laptop should always be enabled, but there should be no internet connections active and ‘automatic’ connection to any available networks disabled to stop the operating system from trying to connect.

In my experience, this tended to happen when entering a configuration menu and selecting a specific option or repair procedure.

Hi Peter - looks OK to me - I would message the seller and ask what version of Diagbox he is running on the laptop (as the versions are hidden in the pictures). Ask him whether this is a Revision C full chip kit and what cars he has been running it on and what year - which may give some indication that it is a later unit.

The laptop is a discontinued product, and was originally sold in Romania. So the model was not released here. It is an entry level system with integrated graphics, It does have 64 Bit support, so if you later wanted to upgrade the operating system to a 64 bit version, it is supported. It has an Intel Pentium N3530 processor running at 2.16 - 2.58 GHz.

Although it has 8Gb Memory, it is only utilising just under 2Gb as it is a 32 bit operating system, so a lot of memory is wasted. Some of the memory is probably utilised by the integrated graphics, which are adequate but won't support any type of fancy gaming, but should be more than adequate for Diagbox.

So for the price I would suggest it is a good buy with the VCI included - considering you would be paying over £100 for that alone for a new one. Plus it is already installed - so that should save some grief.

How's that?

First photo shows 7.02 but that can be updated.

Yes, but not if he has a revision B unit Paul, which is why I asked. Some of those are limited to very early versions of DB7.

Thanks for that Marc. I will send him mail tomorrow. I don't understand Diagbox, never had anything to do with it, presumably I need it for the C5.

Hi Peter, well if he is using that version of Diagbox on the VCI successfully, then it follows that it should be fine for a C5 X7 as that is one of the last versions of Diagbox. So fingers crossed it should be OK, but I can't say for 100% as you can appreciate Peter without seeing it myself.

Hi Peter
As you know I have now sold my C5 which means I have a lexia with nothing to use it on. I have kept it as I am listed as a member with a lexia but if you would like a long term loan of it that is fine by me. I could do with a day out and as soon as permitted, which I believe is not long now, I would be happy to bring it down to you for the pleasure of the drive. If you contributed £40 to the petrol cost it should work out a lot cheaper for you. Up to you!! :)

That's very kind of you Mick. I will give it some consideration. Have you a computer to go with it?

Yes it has a dedicated laptop but the battery is dead and you have to use it with an extension lead. Also of course the laptop is of similar age to the lexia around 2010 so it is a bit slow but it gets there!! :-D
