diesel bleed

Post by piki »

so i replaced today the fuel filter in my dad's car -picasso c3 2017 diesel , and i noticed that the diesel filter is different then my 2012 picasso,
as it has no bleed pump on the filter housing .
the local dealer says just to fill the filter up with fuel , and thats it .
i did that , in the first start or 2 it took a bit longer to start and the car dies , but since then it start normal and run normal .
there is another option to bleed? is it necessary in this 2017 car?

It is not unusual for the HDi engine to have issues the first time it is started after the fuel filter is replaced, as there could still be air in the system. After that (and a couple of minutes running) it should be fine.

Also sometimes on the fuel line there is a schrader valve for bleeding the air out to help with this you just press it until fuel starts to leak and job done obviously depends on the vehicle

Is this a Blue HDi? They've gone back to an electric lift pump, you just need to switch the ignition on and off 3 or 4 times to bleed the system.
