Searching for o-ring cyl suspension

Post by TheParisOne »

Hi :)
I need this part number, and I'm struggling to find it anywhere, and an hoping someone here can help.
It's an O ring, part of the suspension: 24 826 009

I tried Chevronics, who told me they had it, but it was part of the whole thing and they couldn't just send the ring. Ok, I need it so I ordered it. They sent just the part number 95 563 928, with nothing else, no O rings, no extra parts. I'm a bit annoyed, I don't mind paying but I'd appreciate the right thing to be sold to me :(

So, now I'm hoping someone here will be able to help. I've tried searching for the part number online, the name listed on the diagram given to me by Citroen showing where the part is (I have to admit, they've been fantastic so far, trying to help me), and just using 'o ring bx suspension' but so far I've come up with only this: https://www.pieces-de-rechange-classic. ... nsion.html - I don't know if that will work, since it's for Xantia, but that's the name of the item shown on the diagram Citroen gave me. I've ordered this part, just in case.

Does anyone know if that is the right piece, and if not, where on earth I can find the rings, or even the whole blinking section - at this point, I'll buy the whole suspension if I need to/can.

Have a look at this company that many have used here to get specific o rings and seals if you have the measurements:

What bit are you actually looking for? Can you post the parts picture to show where it fits?

24 826 009 are listed for BX only (no other Citroens), and are the two O-rings in the front strut tops.
NFP on Citroen, and not listed on Pieces de Rechange.
Annoyingly, ServiceBox does not list the dimensions of this part. :(

Did find stock here...
https://salko.pl/uszczelnienia-oringi-i ... troen.html
but not anywhere else yet.

If you can get/measure the dimensions, this company will almost certainly have an O-ring to fit:
https://www.polymax.co.uk/
https://www.polymax.co.uk/o-rings/
For LHM use, go for Viton (FKM) quality.

Just Bearings (listed above) are good for very small quantities.
Both of these companies dispatch really quickly.

If measuring the rectangular O-ring groove, my tips would be...
1. Use the groove vertical Height as the O-ring thickness
2. Allow about 0.2∼0.3mm protrusion of the O-ring into the bore, to determine the Internal Diameter of the O-ring.
A circular-section O-ring will spread to fill a rectangular groove, and make a seal on the shaft.
Lubricate the rings with LHM or silicone grease before assembling.

Oh lordy, not sure if I can measure them or not. Citroen discovered they were the parts needed, and gave me a diagram showing the parts but there are no measurements on that. I don't have a way to check under her to measure them. I shall have to try find somewhere that shows them :)

Thank you all, and thank you for the links :)

OK, I have found a Polish colleague, who has given me his address, and whose wife will forward the package onto me, once they send it, so I've ordered it from that Polish store :) Thank god I work for an International company, and have some awesome colleagues :)
Thank you for the links, white exec, and for the help everyone. I really do appreciate it :)

Well done in pulling all that together so quickly.
If/when you do get the rings, be sure to measure their thickness and internal diameter (try to do it accurately with a vernier caliper), so we can log those dimensions. This will be of enormous help to others trying to source replacements.
I'm assuming the rings are cross-section round, but the diagrams have the appearance of square/rectangular section. Perhaps you can clarify, when you get them!
