White steering wheels are just not practical! Not in my world anyway... It would soon be very off-white :lol:

I'll jump in straight away without nit picking my way through a series of steering wheels with guess number 1

Renault Fuego.

Upholstery slightly reminded me of a Renault 25

It is indeed Neil, well done, a very nice car in every way except the usual Germanic harsh ride which let it down and resulted in a very short ownership, about 6 weeks if I remember correctly! Here are a couple more now superfluous clue pics and the final reveals:
