For anyone with an Amazon account:

As some of you may be aware, Amazon has recently announced they will be declining UK-issued VISA CREDIT cards Starting 19 January, 2022 due to high transaction fees.

Amazon is offering £20 for Prime customers to switch from using Visa to an alternative payment method, and £10 for other customers, if they have a Visa cards as their default or only payment method on their account.

If you log in and go to the Amazon home page, you should see a link like the one below I've have highlighted in red asterisk to the right of the image:

I just added a Mastercard to my account and got an email with confirmation of a £10 credit off your next order. Note this won't show up in any Gift Card balance you may have, it just gets taken off at the checkout of your next order!

Thought it worth a mention as you don't get many free lunches these days!

I only use a debit card that is unaffected.
Changing banks to accommodate that lot is a step too far.
Perhaps those using Visa credit cards can change to or add a debit card?

I have both debit / credit cards in both MC and Visa camps from multiple issuers Steve - so was no hassle to just swap out a VISA for an MC and get £10 for doing so

As it turns out, Santander are also dumping VISA in favour of MC now - and have already sent out replacement cards, so looks like VISA UK issuers are being greedy - well, it will be their loss in the end. I suspect if the big corporations are feeling the squeeze with these fees, it must be even worse for small businesses who generally have to pay more in fees anyway.
