If you found it without seeing this more recent comment on the vid, then that's absolutely Brilliant. How did you do it?

This is my hometown Kragerø btw. And we're almost as far south as you can come in Norway. And those mountains in the background aren't real. But cool commercial. :)

Yes I found it entirely on my own with a very laborious process that went like this:
1. DDG Search for Ports in Norway

Displayed the image results, then scrolled through them and each time I found a place with orange building I started a new tab and DDG'd that place name. Then examined the image results.

I kept repeating that process until I came upon Kragera and Bingo!!

On the way I examined results for Geiranger, Alesund, Trondheim, Tromso, Bergen, Stavanger, Svolvaer, Flam and a few more beginning with H!!
Very satisfying to land on the answer eventually :-D There are a lot of orange buildings in Norway!! :-D

Brilliant. I just stumbled on it with that additional comment I saw on you tube.
my method...in arriving at the "evidence list" I posted today, I had ruled out the likelyhood that it was Swedish.

The mountains threw me though and I was up at many of the places you mentioned and up and down some fjords.

It has been enjoyable, after becoming a bit dissatisfied with the queries for Norway Ports/ Norway Fishing Ports and image lists which didn't fit the bill, and satellite views, and streetviews I abandoned that. I was in Bergen Quite a bit, and Trondheim and Kristiansand.

I then took a few you tube cruises up the West coast. I even flew into Bergen see what it properly looked like from the air. I have come away thinking Norway is stunning!

I think this would be a nice place to stop off at, have a coffee or a beer on me here! Well done :-D

A fine bit of sleuthing, both of you.

It was a bit of a leap of faith to start in Norway but it paid off.

Thanks Paul appreciate your comment, looks like there are some great drives and spectacular views around those fjords as well as using the ferries. Looks a great place for a holiday (if a bit pricy for life's essentials) :-D

For a pleasant hour or two join Andy on his motorcycle tour to the Arctic Circle along the Norwegian coast. Beautiful scenery and I enjoy his lighthearted commentary too: :-D

Here's Cleantechnica's take on it. Some interesting comments. Many coloured by the fact that GM only currently have one "production EV", and their past history.

Ranting about GM's Electric Vehicle Superbowl Ads Ugh

Just for completeness there was another one....this resurrecting Edward Scissorhands too.
..ugh! indeed.

Audi have done a response to the Will Ferrell "No Way Norway" ad.

They have the high ish ground of the Audi e-tron currently being the best selling EV in Norway. As noted previously GM currently have 1 production EV, the Chevrolet Bolt.

Make your own minds up, shouldn't be too difficult (the bloke is a Game of Thrones Actor apparently)

[str]The USA's[/str] Norway's most significant Car Advert

I sort of think the GM No Way Norway is beginning to backfire...particularly in Norway.

One of the comments on a vid I watched sums it up

"I'm still not sure if the Will Ferrell commercial was actually a GM commercial, or the start of a brilliant viral marketing campaign by Norway... Hmmm. ;-) Well done..."

Nice response here, and there are plenty more to find....

They proudly say "Free this and free that." but nothing is free, their extremely high taxation system pays for all their 'free' goodies.

With a population of under 5.5 million majority in the younger age groups it's less difficult to maintain a seemingly high standard of living.

From Energy Matters Global and Domestic a slightly more negative view on Norway from some of its young folks.
Undeniable that their wealth was based in oil and gas, and continues so to be in exports.
NewcastleFalcon wrote: 04 Nov 2020, 09:41 Good old Norway!

Europe's second largest oil producer after Russia with the "greenest oil in the World" , and the highest per capita use of electrical cars of all countries in the world - 42.4% of cars sold in 2019 were electric.

"Oil is a sensitive subject in Norway. The petroleum industry, majority-owned by the state, is credited with transforming the country from a poor fishing nation to the owner of the largest sovereign wealth fund in the world"

The young Norwegians taking their own country to court over oil

The oil industry has been around for some time now and it isnt going to go away quietly, and as well as its own vested interests, many States that have grown rich (or less poor) on oil and will not voluntarily let it's revenues go while posturing their "green" credentials.

The thing that will power a change is as ever economics. Solar and Wind (+ storage) appear to have it in their favour now hence the massive expansion in both.

On the other side of the coin Norway is one of the "world leaders" (NF-room101) in carbon capture, utilisation and storage. That's the technology that allows "greening" your fossil fuels and still keep digging them up business as usual.
