I recently got a Diagbox to use on my C8.
I think I’ve worked out most things, although I’ve never yet found how to see a ‘live feed’ or whatever it is called. I’m also terrified by some of the warning you read about using the equipment.
So, as per post title, is there anywhere a simple guide as to how to use a Diagbox ?
Cheers
Julian

Re: Idiots guide to Diagbox !
There's no real manual to speak of - as the official techs have required training on the software before they are allowed to be let loose on it on Customer cars Julian.
But with your C8 I suspect it has launched the Lexia interface and not native Diagbox? Can't be sure as you have a 2008 build - so maybe on the cusp and will launch Diagbox.
But essentially it is the same:
1) Start by running a complete diagnostic and always allow it to finish. Any and all detected ECUs are displayed at the top of the list when completed. The code names of the ECUs are generally used, but there is an icon to the left that should give you a visual clue of the system.
2) For live engine data for example, just select the Engine ECU from the list and confirm. This will open a new menu and provide you with further choices.
3) Live data is under 'Parameters' and from that menu, there will usually be a set of 'Standard Parameters' or user definable custom parameters you can pick.
4) Select the parameters for the appropriate area and follow any instructions / warnings. Then the live data can be recorded and paused / resumed as required and can then be saved for later recall.
5) Data can be saved to a report PDF and can then later be read as a graph showing values over a timeline or a simple report of recorded values as measured.
The only thing not to do is to go into any 'Configuration' / 'Programming' screens unless you have a reason to perform a specific operation as there is no backup / restore option if you change a setting accidentally.
I have posted some warning guidance here in the Diagnostics Section:

However, as each later version of software comes out, the menus and features / functionality often changes and that makes guidance generally void overnight, but the principle is the same. But for live data, you can't make any changes to the system inadvertently. Just make sure if there are instructions or requirements before starting any tests, then follow these.
I'll email you an older Diagbox guide I have that will give you some indications of what the menus do - it should give you something to read up on though Julian.

On the Lexia subject I have stuff I downloaded at sometime, it's a 35 page book, 3 chapters, looks official. Can't remember where from, maybe someone here can find it.

Re: Idiots guide to Diagbox !
Thanks for that, I’d be interested to see the whole thing if possible.
When you say downloaded, do you have it as an electronic file ? On my computer, at least, your pic only shows the first page.
Cheers

Re: Idiots guide to Diagbox !
It probably won't be much good to you Julian with your late registered C8 - as I think it is Diagbox that is launched and not Lexia - so none of the Lexia manual would be relevant as the software interface is different if this is the case.

Re: Idiots guide to Diagbox !
Thanks Marc for that explanation.
Yes, my unit offers me both options of Lexia or Diagbox, but I always select Diagbox.
