old-un77's Picasso Battery problems

Post by old-un77 »

if I may, I have a problem with my desire....overnight, battery cold it shows 12.00volts, with engine running 14.39volts can only go on relatively short runs so not putting much back into the battery. and cant get a mains charger to it.

RW: Split this off into a new topic, can you give a bit more info old-un's?

My C5 is suffering the same way, leave it for several days and it struggles to start, I've just ordered one of these to see if it helps

Hope yours works better then the one I got from Maplins a few years ago. Put it on wifes Micra before we went to France for a couple of months. Connected direct to battery via croc clips battery was flat on our return.

The max. output of these mini solar panels is so low, even if exposed to sunlight 24/7, that I suggest you keep the box safe for return!

The only real answer is to shell out for the largest AH SLA battery that will fit in the carrier tray.

You could try one of these. If they do as they say on the tin you can charge overnight indoors and then use to start the car in the morning. As the alternator seems to be ok it may simply be the car battery has had it? :)

It's an Exide battery and only about nine months old Mick, proper one for the car but it's been very cold here and there has been four inches of snow on the car at times.

I just put it down to the damned computerised system on the car draining it.
