Re: New Year's Day-2021 Photos

We did the "tour" at Glenlivet when we were staying at Nairn a few years ago. They had resisted up to then charging for the tours, and at the end they were very generous with the tastings, 12/15/ and 25 year malts all on offer.

I think we hit just right for the timing, I would be surprised if it was still free now.

The other whisky tour we went on was at Edradour, at the time the smallest distillery in Scotland. Delightfully heath Robinson with the stream and the condenser, and excellent all round.

I have never been to a distillery myself as a non spirit drinker, but many many breweries have fallen in my path!! I just looked up Dad's favourite tipple and found their site very interesting. I also think I know why he picked those two malts!!: See what you think: :)

never knew that Mick :) Every day's a school day ;) Should have, Watford being fairly local...

And just up the road (of the railway variety) and not far from my home town, Wolverton was also a major printing town with McCorquodales being resident there...

It was always said that the boy school leavers in Wolverton went to work in the railway works and the girls went to work in McCorquodales :)

All long gone now, buried under a housing estate but the McCorquodales façade remains...

Wolverton Tech College, which I attended in the 70s for my vocational qualifications, was set up for the needs of the railways works and McCorquodales along with my organisation's needs in a minor way...

Like McCorquodales, the Tech is now under a housing estate...

Up here the other side of Liverpool we had Eric Bemrose (later the Bemrose Press maybe). They printed the TV Times and, I think, comics such as TV21. They specialised in fine quality colour printing so I suspect they used web-offset.

Has January zipped by?

No theme from me, just mark the first day of a new month with a random post or two, or three any subject and shove them on here.

Thread expires midnight tonight.

A couple of our radiators were showing signs of their age with surface rust and bleed stains so I decided to sort them out yesterday. I didn't take any before or during pictures because I had no need, but I am so pleased with the result, after lots of rubbing down and re-enamelling, I thought I'd share them:
