C4 Picasso DIY Key Replacement

Post by bigtone0777 »

Hi again chaps, as promised I have more questions that I'll ask one by one lol

If I was to buy this key with the PCB and swap the blade from my existing key would it need to be programmed with Diagbox?

So the key would have the old (correct) blade and a new body with new electronics? Yes, it will have to be paired using Diagbox (or similar).

And then (separately) pair the remote lock/unlock function.

Yes that would be the case, I'd swap my blade into the new case with the new electronics. I was hoping it would be like my old Xsara Picasso key and could swap the transponder chip but it seems like it's soldered on these ones.

I'll need to take a trip to the dealer for the security info as I don't have it to program the keys

Just got off the phone to my local Citroen dealer who have said if I call in with my V5, driving licence and a utility bill they'll give me the customer confidential code with no charge, I was expecting having to cross their palm with The Queens head so I'm over the moon.
Key has now been ordered from eBay and I'll let you all know how I get on when it arrives. Hopefully there's nothing that can go wrong during the programming, I don't mind telling you that I''ll be a bit nervous :rofl2:
