Does anyone know if I can swap out my halogen headlight units for the Xenon versions.
I know if I can that the lamps won't turn, but I wasn't sure if they're on self levellers etc

No is the realistic answer. You would need the headlamp washing system, updated washer bottle, bumper, rams and all that, headlamp ECU, wiring and software configuration BSI coding etc. etc. as well as the lamps and ballast etc.

The xenons and associated stuff to go with them will cost you more than the car is worth, and you won't see enough of an improvement to justify it. I've had a few cars with xenons, including my current one, and the halogen units in my elderly rover 218d are better than the lot of them.

I would just go for high quality light bulbs and giving the lenses a damned good clean.
