Re: Just been stabbed.
Just been to get stabbed. An hour to walk to the surgery, two hours to walk back (uphill) Five minutes to get the microchips and now radiating 5G.
Really, no ill effects whatsoever. They did ask about any other injections etc. after confirming my identity.
I can't remember my last injection - tetanus when I was 16 I think. Not on any medications at all.

Re: Just been stabbed.
I collected Mum this morning to get her shoulder stabbed. Less than 1/2 hour in and out, and very professional (this included the observation period).
When I was watching the BBC interview a GP who was working at a vaccination centre they asked that people who were coming in to be vaccinated wear loose, short sleeved tops where possible (obviously a jacket/coat when the weather dictates), as the injection has to go in very high on the shoulder. They had seen some men coming in wearing three piece suits, shirts and ties which added avoidable delays to the process (taking off the jacket, waistcoat, tie and shirt before getting stabbed).

Wot? No fifteen minutes waiting to see if you have an allergic reaction?

Re: Just been stabbed.
SWMBO told me that the 15 minute check is only necessary for the pfizer vaccine, not the Oxford so that may be why?

I take it your stabbed arm now feels a LOT heavier than before? Like, maybe, five times heavier?myglaren wrote: ↑23 Jan 2021, 15:41 Just been to get stabbed. An hour to walk to the surgery, two hours to walk back (uphill) Five minutes to get the microchips and now radiating 5G.

Re: Just been stabbed.
I saw Liam Fox MP saying that he'd taken the training to enable him to do the injections, the interviewer asked "Is it difficult? Fox answered "Not if you can play darts."

Re: Just been stabbed.
I had a phone call from my GP surgery this afternoon and I'm booked in for my vaccination this Saturday morning at 10:15. I'm in Group 4 because I'm classed as clinically extremely vulnerable, without it I'd be in Group 5. I tried to get my wife done at the same time as she is in Group 4 due to her age but they couldn't (wouldn't?) do that as they are treating the vulnerable Group 4s first.
I asked if there was any indication which vaccine I would get and, interestingly, I was told that there would be a discussion beforehand which implies there is some choice available but maybe not my choice.

Re: Just been stabbed.
We're all getting the Oxford Astrazeneca here. Not too keen on the Pfizer by all accounts.

I got the Oxford one. No consultation. Fine by me, I don't have a preference, they all taste the same.

Re: Just been stabbed.
When I received my flu jab the year before last year I asked whether the chemo I had been taking would have any effect. I was told that I should make sure that the flu vaccine wasn't a live vaccine as my immune system was up and down.
I suppose that I will be offered either the Pfizer or Moderna (if available) vaccine as they use mRNA fragments and contain no live virus. I still don't know enough about the vaccines but my leaning is that I would prefer the Astra-Zeneca vaccine.
Why? Although the protection it offers against initial infection is lower (about 60% - 70% against 90% - 95% for the mRNA vaccines) it also primes your immune system so that if you do become infected your body will deal effectively with infected cells. I haven't seen any stats about the mRNA vaccines for this.

Re: Just been stabbed.
We had the Pfizer vaccine here but they're also doing the Oxford one locally now, I think it's really just about availability and there's no real difference in effectiveness.
We do, as always, though have a flurry of 'experts' coming out of the woodwork and spouting off their nonsense.

Re: Just been stabbed.
I got my first Pfizer jab on the 16th December but nearly didn't get my second one at all, it was amateur radio that saved me. They announced that they weren't giving second injections as they wanted everyone to have the first one, I had an appointment for 6th January but in the light of what was announced I thought it was cancelled.
I was talking to a station in Burton Bradstock about it and he said if I had it in Bridport they were giving the second one, that was in the morning of the day it had been due, so I phoned the doctors and sure enough they were, so I went along and got my second one. I'm apparently 93% proof now.
They did nearly 1000 injections in one day, brilliantly organized I thought. My wife had her first one last Saturday, they were aiming to do 1600 then.

Oh gosh yes, I just hope nobody takes any of it seriously but it's a forlorn hope I fear...

Re: Just been stabbed.
My middle daughter is trying desperately to persuade me out of vaccination on Saturday as "we can't be sure that there are no long term problems. It hasn't been tested."
I'm afraid she reads far too much in the wrong websites.
