1.6HDI 112 cylinder No1 combustion fault

Post by Mark2LTDI »

Hi All

The wife's 5008 2011 1.6 HDI 112 EGS has twice now dropped a cylinder (running on three), bringing up "engine fault" & "antipollution fault", Green flag have plugged it in and come up with Cylinder No1 combustion fault, both times it has later cleared and run fine.

The car has done just 75K, I replaced injector No4 2 years ago (it failed and would not clear) is it time to replace No1 ?

Its looking like it. If you are able to it may be worth swapping no 1 injector with another one to see if the fault moves with the injector to confirm its not a wiring or ECU fault.

I had a felling that was the case.
Swapping isn't the preferred option, as it was just over a month between both faults and my wife is disabled so relies on the car.

That said it had a long term starting problem and kept throwing up a gearbox fault, ended up putting into Peugeot for diagnostics, they couldn't find any fault but said it would need a new clutch at £2000, I tracked it down to a broken engine earth strap and it's been fine until a month ago.
