Out and about...

I took her out for a leg-stretch and a shakedown earlier today... Gosh, does she drive well It's hard to believe she's only got 954cc under her bonnet... She feels like she has a lot more...

This little car give a massive amount of smiles per mile

She's a road-legal go-kart and huge fun! She just begs to be driven with enthusiasm

So different from Sally, Daffodil makes Sally feel very staid and ordinary with none of the sheer fizz you get driving Daffodil...

Sally is, in her defence, somewhat more refined than Daffodil...

Supposed to take daughter's C3 for MOT tomorrow.
Grandson's girlfriends sister is C-19 positive and he lives part time with them.
He has been in the car and test results not through yet.
Car could be contaminated. Have to cancel the test

I trust grandson's girlfriends sister is OK Steve and is asymptomatic...

Lots are now testing positive and it's having quite a knock-on effect... Our binmen are 40% down on staff due to positive tests and self-isolation rules... Two binmen have sadly died of it When doing the bins it's very hard for the staff to socially-distance and dealing with potentially contaminated rubbish too... As a result, our garden and food waste collections have been suspended until further notice...

I thought I'd succumbed the other day. Woke up and felt very ill but with no cardinal Covid-19 symptoms... It was late afternoon when I felt well enough for a short run Luckily it was only a hiccup... Besides, however bad I felt I needed to run at least 5K to maintain my unbroken run streak and RED January Challenge I felt much better for getting out and running and been feeling excellent since

As of today, I'm on day 122 of my current run streak and 133 miles into my virtual double LEJOG running challenge...

And on day 14 of RED (Run Every Day)

Spot the day I felt a bit rough...

This morning I ran the Enigma Running 10K Batmobile virtual event for this rather awesome medal

Keep going, Jim! You will get there in the end (only for you to turn around and come back!). I have to say that, of all the Batmobiles, I do prefer 'Tumbler', the big one at the front of the medal. I love the fact that, when the film company were looking to get it made, no USA custom car makers would take it on, but when they turned to the UK it was no big problem for them to do;

Tests came back negative fortunately - girl is locked in her room now, not allowed to mix with anyone else.
Got the car to the garage.

Then daughter was going to take grandson to work - he usually rides there - he's a cycle specialist and rides ten miles each way to work. He has a car (Punto) but no licence so she goes with him and brings the car home some days.
Flat tyre and of course her pump is in the C3, my pump is in the Civic and my son has it and he never bought the tools and pump he should have with the Christmas money I gave him.
No spare either, naturally.
They blew it up at Sainsburys, half a mile away, but it went down again, did it a second time and it seems to have held. At least I have my car and pump back now.
We were going to take it for repair/replacement but it is holding so may have been the valve.

I've been on light duties today

Daffodil's headlight aim needed setting as I noted they were a bit out when i went on my test drive earlier in the week.

As both the AX and Saxo headlight centres are near enough same height off the ground I could use Sally as a reference and placed her in a certain position on my drive and shone her lights at the garage doors... I marked the beam positions with chalk...

I then put Daffodil in exactly the same spot and adjusted hers to match Sally's

Daffodil now spot-on!

I then replaced her flaky amber indicator bulbs after sourcing spares from Amazon after finding one of my spares was duff... Amazon supplied 10 for the cost of barely a pair from our local factors!

I also needed to stock up on sidelight/numberplate bulbs and from Amazon, 10 LED bulbs were way cheaper than filament ones so I tried some...

What a difference! Tomorrow I'll see how well they light up the numberplate...

Fiasco still ongoing Jim. Haven't heard but assume that the Punto is OK. It had been showing a warning for the steering system but that has gone now - second daughter had to have a new electric steering column in her Punto, among many other things.

I put LEDs in the C5 sidelights, they were crap but legal, very blue. The original W5Ws lasted only a couple of weeks, the LEDs several years, still OK when I scrapped it.
I've seen a lot of LED number plate lights and most are dreadful - they can be blinding for anyone following, alternatively only light up a couple of characters on the plate. Lots of different ones to chose from and many are quite expensive - fifteen quid a go for some. I chucked a pair of cheap ones in my reversing lights. Far brighter but still rubbish due to the location of the reversing lamps rather than the bulbs. The rear foglights are more use.

Steve, I've seen exactly the same and I'd consider it makes the car illegal as the plate is not properly lit and a lot of white light spills directly back which is definitely illegal... Certainly an MoT fail...

Hence why I'll test first...

They do seem to do the business as sidelights though...

As far as I can see, LED bulbs are more like torches, as they generate a beam of light (OK, a wide beam, but still a beam) rather than a pool of light. That is why they work as sidelights (as they are pointing forwards) but not so well as number plate lights.
