A long way from the best version of this song. Not awful though.
Sinead was such a beauty, damned shame her life took the path it did. So much potential wasted.

May have posted this previously.
It has some overlapping properties, namely an Irish singer, and you can hear the Irish in her voice, particularly when she speaks, makes no attempt to disguise it, as should be - quite funny too.

There are some less that overwhelming parts to this but overall I quite like her - more her 'new image' than the previous material. She seems much more natural now. And gorgeous!

Having listened to that version, and I have to agree it is far from the best, I began wondering which was the best. Now obviously that is a question which is always going to provoke subjective answers but I decided to try and be objective and listen to as many versions as I could find and pick my choice as the best. I did decide to ignore Roberta Flack's recording as I have heard that more times than any of the others so I might be biased. So I found recordings from:
Peter, Paul & Mary, Leona Lewis , Matt Cardle, Glee, Lena Martell, Stereophonics, Johnny Cash, Gordon Lightfoot, Josh Krajcik, Peggy Seeger, Jennifer Hudson, Celine Dion, Josh Groban, Luke Evans, Miley Cyrus, Peter Joback and George Michael.

A reasonable sample I'm sure you will agree although there are no doubt many others. However after some torturing of the ears I have picked this as my favourite, excluding Roberta Flack of course, and it may be my actual favourite anyway!!: :-D

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Not bad Mick. I prefer the original though.

I did hear one recently that I thought was very good. Perhaps it was Angelina Jordan Astar. May have to trawl through my history to see - with four YouTube accounts, I may be some time.

Years since I have heard Lena Martell.

Thanks Steve. Liked this comment from the original poster of the vid on youtube
Based on many comments here, I feel inclined to say something. I understand everyone has their opinions on who is a better songwriter (Joni vs. Dylan vs. Gordon), but opinions will only ever be opinions. Do not put down any artists here. They are all geniuses in their own rights, and they knew that about each other. Dylan invited Joni because he had a lot of respect for her and admired her work. So please stop putting words into their mouths. Just listen to the music; if you start ranking it then you're completely missing the point. Thank you

I like a lot of Bette Middlers stuff. A friend introduced me to her album "The Divine Miss M" in the early seventies, excellent album.

I watched the typewriter music on the PE Quiz and it autoplayed onto this which I had totally forgotten but it still raised a smile:

Tecumseh ? Briggs ? Or China's finest ? :-D
First thought was -

Only other reference I have heard of Tecumseh.

I had tickets to see Townes Van Zandt. Never got to see him, he had died a few days before the show. :(
