Citroen c4 2015 not heating correctly, mixed problem?

Unread post by Danieldan »

Hi, I have a small obscure problem. The hose number 6 on this picture is not circulating any water through it after I changed it recently, it had been wearing down against on the ac pipes next to it and started to drip, thats when we noticed the lack of heating air inside the car. Worth noting: the expansion vessel was never emptied. Now the car is only giving heat on drivers side. (LHD car)

I have been trying to bleed the car through the nipple (nr 15 on picture) and moving the heat up and down in all different ways whilst having someone revving around 2000. I also removed the glove compartment box and dismantled under the steering wheel to see if all the flaps were working correctly, they did like a charm, if its not broken inside, but I felt in the vents the air distribution was affected when the flaps/arms moved around.

Is there something in common with the circulation not working on hose nr 6 and the heating(or lack of it) inside the car?
Any known problems I could go check next?

I called the local citroen dealer and they suggested to do the bleed procedure with their computer since the thermostat is a hell on these cars, making them hard to bleed? Is this the way to go or should I ignore it?

There shouldn't be any flow through 6 - it is a degas pipe to vent any air in the high point of the radiator back to the expansion tank - there is no flow in the expansion tank on these either if you look at how the pipe is routed.

There have been several threads recently on these where the matrix has become blocked, leading to heat only on one side of the car - it's possible you've flushed some junk into the matrix, in which case it should be possible to flush it back out - but you might need to remove the matrix. Bit harder on a LHD as the driving controls are in the way (one of the few wins from the RHD conversion!!)

So the change of the hose and the lack of heat might just be a bad coincidence, maybe I got some s**t into the system when I topped the expansion vessel?
Im kind of bad at navigating this forum, could you link me the thread?
Any like, guide on how to flush and/or remove the matrix?
Any suggestions to fix this problem is greatly appreciated!

In the latest one Gabriel appears to have removed the matrix, but doesn't say how - I don't think it's too hard on a RHD, but on LHD may involve removing the steering column or some thing....

I see, I already used the guidance from one of those links when checking the flap motors things, thanks for help so far!
I saw the heater matrix when stripping the panels last time. So the matrix would be no problem to pull out, Im more afraid of air pockets lingering in the system afterwards, I might end up turning this job away because of that. What do you think?
Its starting to sound more and more like the matrix is faulty/clogged.

Good lord this car is giving me a headache, one thing after another!

For your knowledge it was the heater matrix that was giving up. The small cost of 10000kr (around 1000euro?) will be the cost for the part and job.
Figured I might ask you here before aswell, is it a resonable price?
