Pleased she found it Steve, not sure if Delaval Car Accessories is still there, but Carltons the animal feed supply store adjacent to it, has been there years and years.

Wouldn't be that difficult to have them as working lanterns, haven't seen any photos of them lit up so I expect they aren't. There's about 3 near Seaton Sluice Harbour, and another which is listed like the one in Sheffield Bobins mentioned in the Estate as you leave Seaton Sluice heading for Whitley Bay, at Old Hartley. The ones at Whitley Bay/Monkseaton are all in the light green paint.

Not sure what they do with the Sewer Gases these days.

This was one solution to the sewer gas problem.

The Huffy Radio Bike under discussion on at least two threads, 'On your Bike' and 'Lockdown Vintage Audio Activities' is filmed in the P E Jukebox in Brighton. So the challenge I set for the little birds is "Who owns a Huffy in or around Brighton?" :-D
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

In colateral trivia....
I know Skull owns a Huffy Ironman as reported on "On Your Bike" but he's up here in the North :-D

Here's my old ride Ironman Triathlon by Huffy 'Titanium Boron Steel' :dunno: - it hasn't done what it says on the label except make me huff and puff :rofl2:
Spec:
Weight 18Kg
One-piece crank
30/38/50 front ringset 21-speed standard dual indexed Shimano stickers

Bought some years ago at an American PX shop whilst serving in Germany 1995-99 for less than £100

I used it as a general commuter and the odd trial ride but I wouldn't stray too far off-road.

Passed the bike to my son who used and abused it as a work commuter with Dad doing the maintenance (minimum) for maybe 18 months until he came home one day and said it was broken with stuff falling out of the bottom

Recently I broke my cross-trainer and decided to try and get the bike fixed, ordered a bottom bracket bearing set, snapped a peddle (1/2'' thread) off in the process and had to drill and re-tap the left handed thread on the one-piece crank, but I couldn't get the new bearing set to fit (outer cups were wider :?: ) so re-fitted my old bearing set with the new locking nut and so far it's holding together, front derailleur cable is hanging in there (pretty sure my son just rode on the middle sprocket and never rested the cable)

I feel the need to go off on a little bit of a trivia investigation spawned by yesterday's New Years Day Photo's discussions.

Started off with one of my Dad's diary entries
NewcastleFalcon wrote: 01 Jan 2021, 19:31 This is my Dad's Charles Letts Schoolboy's Diary from 1942. Its mostly filled in, and a treasure to read from time to time. I liked the account of his camping trip, and his cycling trip from Consett to Wilmslow in Cheshire.

Tuesday 4th August 1942
"not a bad day. Spent the day just in the camp. Read Oliver Twist"

How many take Dickens for a bit of light reading on a camping trip these days :?:

Image
and from that on to a set of acquired 16 Charles Dickens books on our shelves......the trail continues.....

WE have an acquired "set" of "Dickens" in the house. Sitting neatly on a bookshelf but hardly if ever opened and read.

So here is the aforementioned Oliver Twist
ImageImageImage
Now the Watford link, just for curiosity I may have a look at another time :-D

Anyone else got a set of dickens/ a single dickens in their collection?
Now I just left the Watford link dangling, and by pure chance, got more than I expected from our Mick :-D
....it continues
