Re: Electric Vehicles: What have you spotted?
I saw a Renault Twizzy (Whizzy, maybe), a road crew were using it to marshal traffic at some temporary traffic lights on the A548.
I think it was the POS model. Top of the range.

Re: Electric Vehicles: What have you spotted?
You can still pour petrol into that one and head up and down the M6 as well .frenchenstein wrote: ↑18 Dec 2020, 16:03 Wow, that’ll get you to almost the end of the A55 from where I live. Well worth £31k lol.
New electric cars remain unnecessarily overpriced, purposely so. None of the manufacturers want to break ranks and go for high volume low margins just yet without a bit of kicking and screaming.
You could sit a Renault Zoe 100% Electric alongside that Mercedes hybrid for not that much difference in price, and you probably think you get more car for your money with the Mercedes.

I MOT’d a Peugeot 3008 Hybrid four by four, and noted that the rear wheels are driven exclusively by an electric motor!

Re: Electric Vehicles: What have you spotted?
I think there have been at least 2 new arrivals up here, the Peugeot 208-e the other day, and today a grey e-corsa.
Yesterday on the occupied charger trail 70 reg White Tesla, Black Jaguar I Pace, and a White Jaguar I Pace.
I do think once you decide to go for an electric car, you wont go back so given time the change will happen.
Many people will still cling onto a bit of ICE, and the small (extremely small at the moment ) number of FCF members who have gone electric also have that "deconstructed hybrid" by having an ice at the same time.
The majority of the time the Leaf gets us where we want to go in our usual stomping ground ie Northumberland, Durham Scottish Borders and North Yorkshire, and is truly bargain basement electric, cheaper than running a £100 Micra. It is more than adequate in spite of having a low range compared to newer obviously more expensive offerings. It is never going to get us to Cornwall, Pembrokeshire, Wester Ross or even that London, and less still to the Tirol or Provence more than adequately achieved with a diesel Sierra. Then again it is some years since a long drive has been appealing in any shape or form at all.
Newer/more choice/more range/more expensive
Second Hand cheaper/less range/currently little choice
and the FCF has threads for
New: Electric Vehicles What's Available
Secondhand: Bargain Basement Electric
If you plan to join the deconstructed hybrid club in 2021 hopefully plenty information to help
Regards Neil

Do we have sufficient lithium reserves to sustain an “all electric” fleet?

Couple of links to discussions here on the "Electric Vehicles Batteries thread" undoubtedly Lithium-Ion is the current king of industrial scale battery production, but hopefully contributions to that thread mop up lastest developments.
Never one for understatement Elon Musk's view....
Lithium Ion is likely to be replaced with a next generation technology for batteries, but in the meantime if Lithium is required to be supplied it will be found/extracted.On the topic of lithium, Elon Musk said that there was enough lithium in Nevada alone to electrify the entire US. He also said that Tesla recycles 100% of is vehicle batteries today and hopes to cut cobalt out of batteries entirely. If he can do this, use more nickel, and make several other improvements throughout the full battery production process, this could cut the costs of EV batteries in half.

Re: Electric Vehicles: What have you spotted?
I was just reading a few days ago that there is a tremendous amount in sea water that can be fairly easily recovered using the salt recovery process like that in Maldon, Essex - the Lithium is recovered from the salt which can go back in the sea if nobody wants it.frenchenstein wrote: ↑27 Dec 2020, 11:17 Do we have sufficient lithium reserves to sustain an “all electric” fleet?

The Tesla Model 3 is the first electric vehicle approved as a yellow cab in New York City, and the first one has hit the road.
