Citroen C5 x7 Parking lights

Post by Falka »

Hello!

GiveMeABreak and i found some evidence that my car was "planned" to roll out with parking lights.
Found wiring diagrams that mentions it, also my original xenon headlight (2011 tourer) has a blank white placeholder plug in the very back corner.
Left headlight is from 2011 original citroen
Right headlight is made in 2020, also original citroen and both has this bulb plug

Im very tempted to test it with a white or yellow 5w5 led bulb and see how it looks. Wiring it up 12v when engine is running would take half an hour top. :)

I've just a had a look at the Swedish X7 manual in case there was a different implementation of the lighting - but no, nothing there either. So I suspect it may have been a consideration / design feature for a Parking Light system that PSA never actually implemented.

By the weekend, i will post a few photos how it looks when theres a bulb :) May look really stupid, then i will not keep it. Im not keen on "pimping" it the car with useless stuff.

So you have headlight with led-strip that is acting as parking light with xenons? They do have that same place for parking light as in older headlights without led-drl, so I think this would be very easy job to do.

Xenon with full led-strip DRL, but theres an extra hole in the very back corner of the headlight for an aditional 5w5 bulb.

Yes that´s the place where parking lights were on cars without led-drl´s. With normal yellowish 5w5 bulb it might look a bit silly, but if you find some led 5w5 for that, maybe it will be cool.

Still not sure what 'parking light' you're referring to Marko unless you mean 1) below..

Pre-facelift Xenon Lamps:
image_2020-12-22_205845.png
1) Sidelamp
2) D1S (Xenon)
3) Angular Lighting (HP19)
4) DRL HP24

Facelift Xenon

1) Xenon D1S
2) Angular Lighting (HP19)
3) DRL (LED)

So on the facelift one above there was no sidelamp? So Falka - are you saying the sidelamp you found is in the same place as the sidelamp in my first picture? If so, then yes, I did have those. I thought you had found another socket somewhere. :-D

Nope.
What I found is in the very corner of the assembly.

I took that plug out, and there´s no place for bulb in there. No way. However can´t figure out what that is for. They exist on both non-facelift halogen headlight, and facelift xenon headlight.

So as we know that the wire 265C on the interconnection states it is for 'Parking Lamps Switch Supply +', I would suggest that it was for a possible option they never implemented on the X7, namely parking lights.

You may have to get one of these:

007-Sedan-Park-Lite-parking-lamp-the-continental-classic-car-auto-oldtimer-vintage-accessory-chrome-1950-1950-05.jpg
My dad had one on his Standard 8, late fifties/early sixties. Most cars did as the sidelights would deplete the battery if left on overnight.
