XUD differences

Post by makemine205 »

Can someone tell me please , what are the differences between a XUD7 and XUD9 engine , apart from the bigger bore on the XUD9. Are the mounting points for the vehicle and gearbox different etc .
can a swap out be done for the XUD9 into a 205 XUD7 vehicle ?.

As far as I know they have the same mountings although there are differences with the cylinder heads depending on the application, some had a camshaft drive take off.

The turbo versions were both rated at 90 bhp although the 1.9 probably has a different torque curve.

Its a long time since I had an XUD, so I'm not completely sure of my facts, the last ones I had were the 11's in the XM's which were quite a lot different, very nice engine though, in my opinion the best IDI engine ever made.

I`m like Peter, long time since I played with XUD`s.
You wont have a problem with the mountings, the gearbox will just bolt on.
Has your 205 got the belt driven vacuum pump, with a pully on the end of the camshaft? Most XUD9`s will have small vacuum pump bolted directly on the end of the head. All you do is swap the pipes around.
Now then there is one thing I`m not sure of.?? I have a feeling that the XUD9 engine will have an immobiliser in the fuel pump, that is matched to the car it came from. ( something like that?)
Have a word with Dean Hunter at www.peugeotparts.co.uk he will tell you what to do. He will also have a good engine and any other parts you want.
