2.0hdi 136hp tuning
Hi im asking for a friend for his Peugeot 407 2.0hdi 136hp. He wants to modify his engine to get more power out of it and he cant find any info what to do except for chip tuning. So the question wound be what can you do more after a chip tuning to get more power. Thanks for your answers

Re: 2.0hdi 136hp tuning
This isn't really an engine 'tuning' forum - you'd have more luck asking on a specialised Forum. There is only so much you can tune a vehicle before you risk engine damage.
'Tuning' is actually done automatically by the engine ECU, but if you are wanting more power by increasing fuel at higher revs, then a tuning specialist may be able to remap the engine ECU for you - but there are limits.
Going beyond this will really mean changing the mechanics of the engine systems like larger inlet valves, upgrading the clutch, modifications to the combustion chamber, pistons etc.
Of course the easy answer is tell him to buy a car with a bigger engine!

How much extra power is he looking for?
Remapping alone should easily get it to 160bhp

In that case just read G M B’s reply, and take a hint. Tell your mate to forget it and swap his car for a 407 V6 Coupe.
Remember when you modify a car you must inform your insurer, the premium will certainly go up.

Hdi tuning, remapped my 2.0 hdi 307sw to 170hp, as a standard remap, i only wanted to delete a couple of things but got the 170hp as part of the package, sure they would give you more hp if you check there website, you will probably need to upgrade clutch though, or it will slip.

Just as a matter of interest, what hassle did you get with your insurer, and how much did the premium go up.VINCENTFISHING wrote: ↑02 Dec 2020, 19:33 Hdi tuning, remapped my 2.0 hdi 307sw to 170hp, as a standard remap, i only wanted to delete a couple of things but got the 170hp as part of the package, sure they would give you more hp if you check there website, you will probably need to upgrade clutch though, or it will slip.

Was a back garden project , once it was running gave it to son in law, who never notified ins , i wouldnt have either to be honest, he did have new clutch fitted as started slipping after a while, but new clutch started slipping !, too much power if you have a heavy foot.

Insurers will try every trick in the book, so it’s always best to be straight with them. Do you realise that they often check ECU’s after an accident. I’ve heard of cases where they have refused to pay out if the car has been modified and not declared. They will of course pay for 3rd party damage, then claim it back from the policy holder of the modified car.VINCENTFISHING wrote: ↑03 Dec 2020, 09:16 Was a back garden project , once it was running gave it to son in law, who never notified ins , i wouldnt have either to be honest, he did have new clutch fitted as started slipping after a while, but new clutch started slipping !, too much power if you have a heavy foot.
