That'll be a 'normal' cut tunnel involving blood, sweat, and tears

One of my memories from (possibly) there, was walking along a tunnel just like that and seeing a series of openings around knee height and about 2' across. On peering into one of those openings, I found I was looking into a slate cavern from the top. The torches were hopeless at filling the void Bit of a ring twitcher

Yes the difference in the walls is clear, it was the very similar set of colours that convinced me!
