The road has been, not unsurprisingly, modernised since the AA box was there, but it was situated behind and to the left of the sheep :-D
Reighton AA box - Googlemaps, fair use.

To confirm bobins location here is the map from the 1955 AA Members Handbook with Box 121 Ringed in yellow. :-D

Yes top quality work chaps, the specific question has been nailed, but I wonder if there's more trivia to be found arising out of it.

The name on the box was Dotterell....after the Inn which has been there for some time.

..and I wonder why that particular box was chosen, whether its a reproduction or the original restored or as often happens a rebadged box which was never in the original location in the first place.

One way or another it has made its way to AA Central, bang at the entrance of the AA HQ in Basingstoke, as discovered and photographed by James

Well the Dotterel has a fish tank at least, if not the greatest range of beers on offer. Best I can do is a half-pint each of Theakstons Bitter!

Just found out from Flickr that our nicely presented box 121 could be in fact yet another one of those occasions when another box is rebranded...so this information was attached to a photo of the Basingstoke HQ box.
The box was originally sited at Maentwrog in Wales. When it was decommissioned it was taken over by a museum in North Wales. When the museum closed the AA re-acquired the box and brought it to Basingstoke where it now stands at the entrance to the AA's head office, Fanum House.
Regards Neil

PS if that info is right then the box was
Box 354 Maentwrog, Tel. Maentwrog 224 Location: Maentwrog - Dolgellan A.487 / 100 yds. east of junction A.487 and A.496 / 18 miles to Dolgellan / 8 miles from Portmadoc

I still wonder why in all the rebrands possible in all the world they chose for the box outside the worlwide HQ of the Automobile Association Box number 121 Dotterel from North Yorkshire.

It may be something as simple as they wanted an English place for the HQ and they had some in the box and picked the best condition, or maybe they drew it from a hat of all the options they had available? :-D

Random , or purposeful selection? that is the question.
Do you know which AA Box Hornby Selected for their AA Box Model :?: (currently £8.99)?
It is indeed a correct location, and a correct number.
