2005 Citroen Xsara Picasso 1.6hdi 110hp

Post by Dazbaby »

Good Morning,
I am new to the forum having purchased a very cheap but low mileage Picasso 1.6hdi back in September. It needs a new DMF and clutch etc. but my question relates to the DPF / FAP and whether my car has one. I have never had a diesel nor a car with DPF / FAP before so not an expert.
From early web searches I thought my model of Picasso, being a 110hp version, definitely had the FAP,but on looking around the car I can't see any evidence of it at all?
Can anyone suggest a definitive way to be sure as I wish to purchase new oil etc and from what I gather the grade would be dependent on whether or not there is a FAP fitted.
Anyone help this newbie please?

Thank you in advance
Darren

Hi and welcome.

There are 2 cversions of the 1.6 HDi fitted to the Xsara Picasso. One with and one without a particle filter. Post your VIN up here (auto masked from public view) and I'll be able to tell you which engine you have and whether it has one or not.

Ok, so you have the DV6TED4 engine without diesel particle filter, so nothing to worry about there. Just make sure you keep an eye on the injector seals, and undertake frequent oil changes on these, circa every 6K miles or so to keep the oil as clean as possible. Make sure the injector seals are regularly checked to the correct torque, as these can become loose and oil can sit in the well, which can carbonise and lift the injector seals, causing oil to get in, sludging / carbonising and then clogging up the oil channels an ultimately particles getting through to the turbo.....

Morning All,

With reference to the engine oil, should I use oil without low ash / saps as the car has no DPF?

Is low ash / saps oil beneficial in any other way, perhaps keeping the turbo a bit cleaner?

Thank you
