C8 - Immobiliser fail, Terminal???

Post by gadgetgricey »

Morning all.
After miles of sterling service my C8 decided to stop me in my tracks last night, and had to be recovered home by RAC.

Driving along, and went up a small kerb for parking and car just stopped. All electrics on, just no engine. Weird, but now car is stuck in Drive (Automatic) and will not go back into P.
Also half on and half off road, but luckily on a hill, so popped into N and rolled back a few feet. No PAS or assisted brakes, so was fun.

Any hoo, coming up with immobilser fault on dash and would not start. Did a search on google and found a video of someone locking and unlocking car via door key, not remote. Tried but no success. so ended up calling out the RAC.

Pleasant guy but he started diagnostics and car then changed from immobilser fault to economy mode, with ABS warning amongst other things. Towed home and we were back to immobilser fault.

I think the car will need to be scrapped, but just wondered if anyone has any ideas that I could try to see if they resolve. (Did think about battery disconnected for an hour, but not done that yet)

Thanks again

Dave

It really does need a Lexia on it to be able to see what is going on.

Is the battery shot? Is the alternator charging?

If you can get some fault codes up that would help.

Battery fine, Alternator charging, not got a lexia so no known fault codes, other than what was showing on central display as above.
Aware thats no help, but just wanted to respond.
Cheers

You could even try a generic OBD reader - even that might be useful at this stage.
