C5 tourer alternator

Post by Grahamibev »

Hi all, I have a 2009 2.0 hdi tourer and currently have the car in a garage with alternator problems, priced at 630 or 250.

Anyine gave any knowledge if there's many different types or best place to get one?

Kind regards

Graham

To find out will need either engine code or Vin, Vin will be disguised and only the moderators will be able to view. That way we can identify the correct alternator.

I can tell you where not to get one, Euro Car Parts/Car parts 4 less. Their RTX branded alternators are ridiculously poor quality. If you are lucky enough to get one that actually works out of the box the average lifespan seems to be around 3-6 months.
What is the reg number or last 8 digits of the VIN as there are many variants of the 2.0 HDi engine?

Euro Car Parts have a nickname they probably would not be happy with; Euro Crap Parts. They have earned it though.

Is the alternator completely duff?

Most are just needing a brush and regulator pack to put them back in running order.

There are companies who specialise in repairing alternators and starter motors, maybe that's the way to go.

Be careful to read their reviews though there are some cowboys out there.
