Covid allowing, most definitely :D Had a bit of a scare on that front today...

I got an alert on my running phone to say I'd been in contact with someone who tested positive but it was a false alarm allegedly... The BBC News website said there was a known problem ion the app. that causes this...

Just had an early warning text from Ken's sister. They are quarantined together in Streatley and apparently Ken has spent the last two days in bed with a heavy cold. A Covid test kit has been sent for and it is fingers crossed but obviously the Saunter is in jeopardy!! Just a heads up! :(

Mick, I just saw I accidentally put the totally wrong emoji in my post... I meant this one [-o< and NOT this one =D>

I'm very sorry  A slip of the mouse

Following this evening's announcement it will come as no surprise that I have postponed the Saunter and requested cancellations from the hotels. Unfortunately it really will be a 'suck it and see' situation now as we could not realistically complete the trip with days any shorter than they would have been. I expect therefore to look at completing the trip next year when hopefully everything will be open again and we will be able to enjoy more daylight and more freedom. In the meantime I can say that I will not be undertaking this plan as a virtual trip because with SWMBO at home, which she wasn't for the virtual March Meander I will not be able to spend sufficient time on the pc on a daily basis to make it work.

It is a real pity but I'm sure I'm not alone!! Many more people are suffering in more serious ways than me, at least we've avoided catching it and can stay home without losing our income!! Hard to see a happy christmas for a lot of children at the moment!!  :(

Me too Jim, lets hope it may be in time for Xmas!

Just to compound the woes I have just heard from Ken's sister that he has tested positive for Covid which is really bad news for a 71 year old with a history of pneumonia. Needless to say both SWMBO and I are now glad we have strictly observed the quarantine rules amd will continue to do so.

Oh gosh, poor Ken :( That is not good and I wish him all the very best and that it does not develop into anything serious [-o<

Just arrived back from France ourselves last night and am busy catching up (no internet after our phone line went down on the Wednesday after we arrived and still not repaired when we left a week and a half later - useless bloody SFR) with the news.

My best wishes to you and, especially, Ken.

Thanks Paul, you got home just in time for another lockdown!! Still you have a self imposed one for the first two weeks anyway like I am about to finish on Wednesday!! Hopefully Ken will make a full recovery and we can get the trip on in the spring!! :)

Well its only been 2 years and 8 months in mothballs but today we finally made the decision to get the South Coast Saunter back on. I have now booked the overnight stays and am very thrilled to announce the new dates!! As my mate Ken will not be available, as originally planned, Jim has stepped into the navigator's seat so we can get round and meet as many FCFers as we can as well as visit some of the places on our bucket lists.

The tour will begin on Thursday 19th October and run through to Tuesday 24th. I will get a proper schedule sorted and include it here for members to see if and when they may be able to join us for refreshment along the way. For now I'll just give you this framework to provide a rough idea of where we will be on each day.

19th Head around the coast of Kent to overnight in Hastings
20th Along the South Coast to overnight in Bere Regis
21st Continue along Devon coast to overnight in St Austell
22nd Around the Cornish coast to overnight in Bude
23rd Back across the north coast of Devon to stay in Wick between Bristol and Bath
24th Back along the Thames Valley and home.

As per the original plan we hope to be able to meet up with at least half a dozen members so let us know if you are up for a lunch time coffee or an evening beer!! :-D
