Cab C4P seats be put into a Berlingo M59?

Post by Hagrid »

Hi.

I have a '53 1.4i Berlingo M59.

For a few months recently I had an '09 C4P but had to sell it on.

But not before my elderly mum had a few rides in it. She said that its seat (front passenger) was the most comfy car seat she'd ever sat in, with emphasis. Because she's broken her hips twice and is only semi-mobile with difficulty and pain, her saying that meant a great deal to me.

So my question is could I buy a C4P front seat (or two) and shoehorn it (them) into my M59?
I dare say the bolt holes, runner lengths etc are very different, but the first concern I suppose is overall size versus space available. I didn't get to have a close look at my C4P's seats.

In case it helps buying, would C4GP seats be the same thing? And are those seats also found in other Citroens?

TIA

Not really - completely different and there are other things you need to factor in such as the airbags built into the seats, the design and dimensions of the seats specific to the vehicle safety systems like the seat belts that will have pyrotechnic pre-tensioners.

All this is relevant as it means the seats as fitted to the specific vehicles are safety-tested and certificated. If you replace them with another seat not designed for the vehicle, you are potentially voiding your car insurance, as the vehicle will no longer comply with its original certification.

Probably not what you want to hear, but something you need to consider.

Thankyou very much, Marc. Indeed not what I wanted to hear, but very much what I needed to hear.

We're looking at a C3 Aircross sometime soon, and the seats are supposed to be quite supportive and armchair comfy - and you do get that extra bit of height on the SUV.

Thanks - actually, height is why I first looked at s Berlingo in the first place - at 6'5" I cannot fit into maybe 90% of cars. I was thinking of viewing a C8 and a Jumpy some time, just to check this point out, and will also add a C3.

You also have the C3 Picasso to consider. Michels' wife has one;

As it happens, I bought the C4P in a hasty error. I had been looking at C4GPs for ages online, and a few at dealers, and had got as far as a successful test drive. Decided to wait for the right one to come up - then one came up in amazing condition at a dealer with 5 star feedback who's all of about 1 mile from my home! I was so amazed I went round straight away and bought it then and there with only a cursory nose, not even a proper walk-round - only to find after that it was a C4P not a C4GP (I missed that tiny detail in the ad), and although I could drive it I couldn't fit in the back seats, which is important as our family share the driving when we go out for drives.
