I can't let this day pass without a tribute to the man who has put Britain back on top of the tree today:
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Not as much work as your effort Mick but probably too just as long.
The 'skin' of my office chair has been peeling off for a couple of years now.
Bought a square metre of faux leather a month or two ago.
Despite leaving it close to the chair it didn't have the sense to leap on and do the job itself so in a moment of madness decided to do it myself.
Ten minute job! And we all know how that goes.
A good half hour to locate the stapler.
Another to find hex keys - most of them at my kids various houses.
Five minutes to remove the chair back. Another ten to clean the spilled beverages from the chair base - yuck!
Fifteen minutes to open the clumpher (professional name for the stapler) and - pingfǚckit - staples go sailing across the room, another ten minutes to locate them and refit them.
Ten minutes to cut the material and staple it on - extended by five minutes to refill the stapler when it ran out. Bloody thing is a proper Chinese puzzle.
Five minutes to re-fit the seat back.
Ten minutes to work out how to get the height and tilt right.
All good! (Hah)!
Half an hour to find the adaptor ring to fit the ringflash as the camera went on strike and refused to fire when asked to.
Ten minutes to find the replacement battery as the one in was depleted by now.
About an hour trying to get the camera and ringflash or ringlight to work together.
Abandoned that and managed to get the camera to do it on it's own.
Quick and simple.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Sorry Jim, at the risk of being shouted down I have to say that I cannot agree that Tao's achievement was EQUALLY brilliant. Brilliant in its own right yes, but winning the Giro once cannot be considered equal to Lewis' achievement. To equal in cycling what Lewis has done in F1, Tao must go on and win more events and championships than Eddy Merckx who, IMHO, is the greatest cyclist that has ever lived. Here's hoping he does!!CitroJim wrote: ↑26 Oct 2020, 17:21And let's not forget this British boy did equally brilliantly toomickthemaverick wrote: ↑25 Oct 2020, 21:20 I can't let this day pass without a tribute to the man who has put Britain back on top of the tree today:

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Definitely agree on Eddy Merckx Neil Although from a British point of view, Tom Simpson was pretty remarkable too... Had Mt. Ventoux not claimed his life I'm sure we would have seen some more brilliance from him... Amphetamines not withstanding...
I did say my comments on the boy from Stevenage was tongue in cheek He's done bloody marvellously and indeed, no way can I see Tao winning 91 Giros!
It'll be good to watch Tao's progress, along with some other very promising newly emerging British cyclists...

Haven't commented yet on relative sporting greatness Jim, that was our Mickthemaverick's Eddy Merckx opinion.
So my comment on relative sporting greatness across sports.....pointless and without a correct answer, ditto across generations for the same sport. I remember they did a virtual fight between Rocky Marciano and Muhammad Ali, must have been in the 60's. I wonder who won......
This article is a well written, informative and entertaining account of that event and the background to it, with some nice lines thrown in
Regards Neilhttps://www.theguardian.com/sport/blog/ ... hammad-ali
A duvet of flab embraced Ali's mid-section, and his jabs contained the spite of a well-fed labrador. Marciano, who had lost 45lbs in case his opponent took liberties, was more serious. But a new toupee, which he believed made him look well-groomed and youthful, further turned this curiosity towards cartoon: he looks like an undersized hoodlum from Dick Tracy.
