Retrofit ds3 folding mirrors
Hello Folks
I hope you can help
I've just recently retrofitted folding mirrors to my 65plate ds3. I took all the parts from a 66plate ds3.
I knew this car had the folding switch option as it had a different door switch to mine.
So I removed the doorwiring from the donar car along with the mirrors and switches and fitted to my car.
Since then the mirrors have never folded. Took the car to citroen dealership. They wanted more time and money to find the problem. I said no and wished them a good day. They did clean my car for free though
Anywayy I sat down and did a little research and came across this forum. I've read a little about diagbox and lexia.
My question is this. Should I have removed more parts from the donar car? If so what else. After that is it a software issue.?
Regards

Re: Retrofit ds3 folding mirrors
Without knowing exactly, I think the folding mirror option will need to be activated using Diagbox.
If you've already fitted the parts and all the plugs and connections fit then hopefully it is just a case of turning the right option on within Diagbox to get them working.

@Kippax2710:
You may not have a compatible part, wiring / loom and lastly you may need to have your BSI parameters updated to acknowledge the unit if you have all the correct types.
There were several types of electronic architecture used on the DS3 which have different wiring looms depending on the build date. Also the BSIs may be different and further, the control pads (that operate the windows, child locks and mirrors) are also different depending on the build date. So it is not always a matter of swapping kit about - it all has to work together.

So I need to buy the software and the computer lead. Recommend a particular brand. Seems to be many cheap brands available on ebay.EDC5 wrote: ↑07 Oct 2020, 21:09 Without knowing exactly, I think the folding mirror option will need to be activated using Diagbox.

Re: Retrofit ds3 folding mirrors
What could help is if you post up the VIN here (it will, for security reasons, be obscured so only Forum staff can read it). That way it will be possible to see what your vehicle had when she rolled out of the factory, and what options are available.
Due to the way the PSA group charges for access to their information you may have to pay a small donation, but this will then cover you for a year or so, should you need to get more information.

Pop your VIN up here first (automatically masked from public view on submission of post) and I'll check to see if we cover your vehicle first, then I can advise.

Re: Retrofit ds3 folding mirrors
Ok, so your car was built 08/06/15, so this is covered under Citroen and not DS, so now I need the donor car VIN (or Reg number if you have it) so I can see if we cover this too, then I can advise you on compatibility of parts.

Re: Retrofit ds3 folding mirrors
Oh well, Sods law.
If you already have the right kit, it might just be a matter of configuring the BSI. Have a look here at our list of Lexia owners who may be able to help:
viewtopic.php?t=56452
There's a Google map at the bottom that links all the members on a map for ease of locating. Just send one of them a Private Message.
My only concern here is these things like the mirrors and mirror control units like to be complete - in other words did you already replace both driver and passenger mirrors and control pads / wiring? If not it may throw a wobbly if it can't communicate with the passenger mirror when folding and unfolding - but I can't be certain.
