I would have said it was a Storm-Petrel, but failing that - a Skua ?
Sadly no longer a C5 owner :(

Appreciate the effort but a good way out....so to save an unnecessary stuggle the clue was in the description its a Corvid and is usually on the other side of the border and much higher up.

In a sort of obscure tangent, David Cameron in one of his more touchy feely moments urged us to embrace them :-D

How about Hooded Crow? (Mind you as it's British should it not be Bonneted Crow?) :-D

Thats it Mick, otherwise known as the Hooded Crow, or simply the "Hoodie". You'll see Plenty of them if you go on a North Coast 500 Stroll!

Quite correct, as you already know :-D , I did think it has a resemblance to both the Merc SL and the Audi A4 of 10 years ago, not to mention aromas of the BMW Z series!! Typical Japanese "put all the best bits together" car. I had a drive of one 3 or so years ago and it felt very Lexus like, so not for me!! :)

Here's one for our CitroJim, a former resident of the parish, which I came across when selecting my pic for "How Many Miles in the Month" and landing on a first day cover of Caerphilly Castles 700th Aniversary in 1971.

From the Archives this little place with the odd name, has cropped up before....

Dubbed 'fly graveyard' here:

AKA Sly Cakes. Whether Yorkshire claim them for their own or not the well known authority "The Shields Gazette (and Shipping Telegraph) have this story of the origin of the name...
Spoiler: show
Whilst finding out about their history I also found out that there was a link between the town of South Shields, the American Civil War and sly cakes. The story begins in the 19th Century when a Scottish family called Chisholm came to South Shields from America. The family ran a bakery in Thrift Street near the docks. The daughter, Margaret often helped out in the bakery and became interested in a young man, William Whitfield, who lived further up the street.

Mr Chisholm was a strict Victorian father and kept a close eye on this daughter, but not close enough. Margaret was secreting love letters in the cakes which she passed to William whenever he bought something at the shop. This went on for five years.

Eventually they sought permission to marry but when this was denied they eloped. Margaret jumped from her bedroom window and they sped off in a horse and trap, heading north with Mr Chisholm in hot pursuit with a pistol. He failed to catch them and they were happily married. The cakes that carried the hidden love letters are fittingly called sly cakes.
