Re: Electric Vehicles: What have you spotted?
A couple amongst the usual suspects of Nissan Leafs, although no Teslas and as ever no Zoe's.
So spoke with a grey Hyundai Kona EV owner (yes the adjective refers to the owner and the car!) who attempted to plug in the AC charger to his car while mine was charging on the Chademo DC. (yes with that charger two certainly dont tango and his AC was blocked).
Plenty other chargers Pod Point Round the corner at Tesco and another rapid across the river. He used to have Hyundai Ioniq prior to the greater range more SUV-ey Kona, and said he much preferred the Ioniq.
The other spot was a MGZS EV Exclusive. Fairly duff pics, MG on the left

Two Tesla type S's, Blue one at Pity Me (Durham) and a red one I followed through Chester Le Street and into Washington.
Probably missed loads of Leafses etc.

Re: Electric Vehicles: What have you spotted?
A dirty, grey Tesla X a few cars in front from Durham to Washington services.
A Model S in white with a black (panoramic) roof, possibly the same one I saw a few days ago near Chester Le Street.

Three spots of note, A Blue Tesla Model S 66 reg, and a double (two in succession) a White New courteously driven Nissan Leaf followed by a White Zoe.

KIA Soul EV Spot and Chat
Just had a very enjoyable conversation with a Couple visiting from Harrogate in a KIA Soul EV.
I would say that most EV drivers I have spoken with have one thing in common, they are enthusiastic and happy to talk about EV driving and their cars. So if you get the chance as well as a spot, when you can have a chat.

Re: Electric Vehicles: What have you spotted?
Various spottings of standard fare, new leafs, old leafs, my own leaf, and a Tesla or two on every journey, but I reckon making an on the road spot of one of these is going to be pretty difficult. Bit like the e-golf, the e-corsa has few distinguishing features, and in this colour is going to blend in well with the rest of cars on the road or in the carpark.

Re: Electric Vehicles: What have you spotted?
Ok, so for some reason, a video came up on my recommended YouTube videos the other night and I was simply amazed at the issues this guy had after spending over 100k Euros on this Audio E-tron fully electric piece of garbage.
A nice car to look at, but flawed throughout. Shocked at the response from Audi, and none of the dealers seem to know hot to fix it. I think this is the classic scenario of rushing new models and new tech to market that is untested and unreliable. I wouldn't touch this with a barge pole. So many issues it is in 2 parts:
You can see the guy really wanted to love this car, but cannot escape the harsh fact that it is worthless.

Re: Electric Vehicles: What have you spotted?
Next time I park next to an audi e-tron I'll have a good look at the paintwork, and see what the owner reckons to their car, and how they like the wing mirrors. The bloke in the video certainly gave an honest answer, but if youve just spent 100,000 euros on one, maybe not everyone you ask will be willing to say they regret it.GiveMeABreak wrote: ↑05 Oct 2020, 19:40 Ok, so for some reason, a video came up on my recommended YouTube videos the other night and I was simply amazed at the issues this guy had after spending over 100k Euros on this Audio E-tron fully electric piece of garbage.
.....
The blue one was a nice colour but I didnt forensically examine the paint job. You can see the stretching of the charging cable over to the side on the bottom photo.

Re: Electric Vehicles: What have you spotted?
Yes, what a daft idea, having the charging port on one side only - unless you pay extra to have one on the other side too! I mean what were these people thinking when they 'designed' it? That's really going to do the paintwork a lot of good.

Re: Electric Vehicles: What have you spotted?
I assume their thinking was that charging stations would evolve in a similar layout to filling stations and as the filler is on one side generally, they positioned the socket similarly. Possibly a case of chicken or the egg, but for me the worst problem about the car is the leaky sunroof. I find it hard to believe that a premium manufacturer can't sort that issue which could well result in a serious accident!!
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Re: Electric Vehicles: What have you spotted?
Perhaps it could be reversed to the charging station so the port is closer.GiveMeABreak wrote: ↑05 Oct 2020, 22:55 Yes, what a daft idea, having the charging port on one side only - unless you pay extra to have one on the other side too! Re: Electric Vehicles: What have you spotted?
Apparently they did provide a charging port on each side on the earlier model, but then removed one of them, and then charging another 550 or so Euros to add another one on as an option!myglaren wrote: ↑06 Oct 2020, 07:49Perhaps it could be reversed to the charging station so the port is closer.GiveMeABreak wrote: ↑05 Oct 2020, 22:55 Yes, what a daft idea, having the charging port on one side only - unless you pay extra to have one on the other side too! The problem seems to be on the charging station unit position and the parking bay - if you get one on the right, or centre, then you're a bit stuffed.
