Hi all,
If anyone has (or knows of) anything, in pieces/for resto - i need something to do over winter eves
Motorbike or similar, but could stretch to a car.
I am keeping half an eye on barn finds.. I quite fancy an old bike to plod around here on, 30's to 60's maybe.. I also fancy some green lane -ing on something road legal, ideally a 4 stroke 250/350 sort of thing
budget around 1K or below to buy.

Yes you have launched thread number 4,444 on the Off Topic Chat section of the FCF. "God bless her and all who sail in her"
I do keep an eye on the classics auctions which often have a few things in the category you are looking for so I'll keep my eyes open. Mathewsons in particular does auction a lot of motorbikes. Next sale early Oct, have a scan see if there's anything, many will of course be over £1k estimate.
Catalogue for Oct 2nd Sale https://mathewsons.co.uk/auctions/15575 ... ober-20203
Catalogue for Oct 3rd Sale https://mathewsons.co.uk/auctions/14424 ... ober-20202
Regards Neil
PS just pulled this out straightway from the listings...

maybe more of a challenge

Re: winter project
I notice that even the smallest of cc Bikes and mopeds do not go for cheap prices these days.
I did add a link to Daimler 250 V8 to my first post which I happened to notice as probably at the other end of the scale from the minor!
Regards Neil

Re: winter project
I thought I was patient ! but I am not..
So, with luck, I have bought an Armstrong MT500.
I have had an itch to do some off-roading in horrible muddy places recently, and also to ride locally on a plodder of some sort.. the BMW and I haven't quite bonded and its too fast for local roads..
Before any of you say it, yes I am going to struggle to start it! I did once own an XL500 (about 30 years ago!) and got the knack back then.. but best foot forwards and all
Maybe.. hitched to the back of camper on a trailer, it would be a fun hobby further afield ...
wish me luck

Re: winter project
Good Luck John curiosity had me looking up the MT500
This bloke resurreccted one after a 10 year gap fairly easily, broken cam belt.
Shove it in a blog on here, with plenty of visuals and there will be plenty of interested readers
Regards Neil
